Very nice piece of work. Too bad it has so little horsepower. It would be cool to see it doing something besides running.

why is there no lifter for the intake valve? is the piston pulling air-fuel past the valve against the valve spring?

You are correct, it would be an atmospheric intake valve. They rely on a very light valve spring.

I have a real John Deere hit and miss engine and the intake valve on it is the same as this

All that work & not a sturdy base to mount it on😮
