Thank you for your comment! It was not easy to adjust the air and fuel mixture... For a small (and fairly primitive) carburetor is almost impossible to achieve the 14: 1 air to gasoline ratio. I solved this by using petroleum as fuel. The Coleman camping fuel is ideal. By using petroleum, the fuel - air ratio will decrease to 9:1, and the small carburetor can handle the challenge. It worked for me, I hope it will help you too!
Why is your engine running soooo well? What fuel do you use? Piston with rings? Spark advance? Valve timing? What is your secret? Every spark leads to a ignition, perfekt. I am stocked.
@69MrSjani

Hooohooohooo! Some difficult questions... The most important is the carburettor and the fuel. For 1 part regular gasoline you need 14 part air. With a small (and primitive) carburettor is almost impossible to achieve this mix ratio. Here is available a camping stove fuel from Coleman, what is a kind of petroleum. This is perfect for model engines! Probably this type of fuel is available in Austria too. You have to add 1 - 2 % WD40 to the fuel, like a mix for a 2 stroke engine. For this fuel you will need only 1:10 part air. Here is a link where you could see the fuel: www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/coleman-fuel-naphtha-0760044p.html#srp If you would like some more details, please give me your email address, and I will send some pictures as well...

Beautifully made. However, I can't agree with other commentators that it is running particularly "smoothly". It still quite frequently shows multiple 'gulps' before firing, which it wouldn't if the carburation and scavenging were just right. I'm puzzled by the way it doesn't do any 'misses' at all when running at maximum speed; it's almost as if there is some kind of load on the engine. Anyway, I repeat: it is beautifully made and finished.

I agree with you, but this hobby is about quality, not quantity. I prefer to build a Bengs model or something that existed sometime even is expensive, rather than buy 3 cheap chinese designs...I didn't built any of my models, because the kit or material was cheap. I did them because I liked them . I have to pick projects carefully, because I have very little free time. And I'm not alone with that, I'm sure.

@69MrSjani
4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I can't answer your question. I never used it for real work, it just drove a generator and once drove my watchmakers lathe as well. ( the power of the electric motor is 0.2 kW ) Of course, it has quite a lot of power like any 15 cubic centimeter engine, but I wouldn't recommend using it for everyday work. I’m sure it wasn’t designed for that.

Can these be purchased
I see the lord of the basement extraordinaire
Id like to get one if these but with a starting mechanism just like the lanz bulldog tractor engine did with using a shot gun shell to start it but i wanted one to use 22 cal blanks to start one

You need a Kurfurts flame eater engine, with a modified burner. The casting kit and all the materials are available at Bengs Modellbau, but you need a well equipped workshop to build it. And a lots of time.

The lowest power nail gun cartridge may be small enough but I'm not convinced. You only need a very small charge. Maybe a shotgun primer?
Wow.😮. This is great… this is music 😊

Yes, they still selling this kit, raw materials, milled parts and electronics. You need a well equipped workshop for machining all the parts, and to assemble it. The kit is available at www.bengs-modellbau.de

Absolutely gorgeous, where can I get one. 😃😃😃👍👍👍
In the future it will be hard for European manufacturers to compare with or even to beat approaching Chinese machines (offensively offered at some 50 % of Karl's kit price).

Nice angine 👍

What about a drip oil feed for the cylinder? At the moment, there's NO lubrication getting there!

The description is pretty straightforward, and the milling is already done . It wasn't hard to do, and the Bengs modellbau website has a step-by-step building instruction in case you get stuck.

@@69MrSjani didn’t you have to bore the cylinder to tight tolerances?

The kit includes a pipe that is honed to exact size. You need to machine only the outside of pipe.

Sigh....these jewels of engineering from an era that valued aesthetics with functionality are the very essence of steam punk in all it's brazen glory.......I just remembered that I have a plan to build one of these type engines completely from raw materials so I might just get off my butt from watching too much UTUBE and make one and use this video to embellish the design.

It's a beautiful model, but is it capable of performing any useful everyday work? No, I'm not trolling. Can these small scale engines actually be used for any real-world purpose?
@69MrSjani

About *The Model Engines* When we are *eating Cadbery Chocolate*, we can understsnd *the taste and quality* of that, But there is *no meaning of explaining about its taste, without eating,* For that we have to taste it, Like that *Explaining and Showing* about the Model Engine , *is not enough*, People who want to Purchase it and to *Experience it*, should *have to get the opportunity, by buying it* Otherwise it is feeling only like *Unicon seeing in a Book*
Sounds like a 12 hp kohler

It's a hit and miss engine, you can't really throttle them. You either fire every stroke or you let the governor choose when to fire.
