Love it “ that’s why I have an off grid man”. Too funny!
Save big money at Menards. Make sure you cash in the 11% rebate. Get a little bit more to use for the next build. I’m guessing about $900 for all the supplies. I get a lot of my building materials from Menards and cash in on every 11% rebate that I can. I use it all to buy materials for the cabin build up north in the UP.

My guess was pretty close. I have an unfair advantage when it comes to estimating lumber prices because I’m a carpenter. 😀
the 10X10 would be perfect for my lawn and garden stuff and free up a lot of real-estate in my shop. my budget is way under 2000 though, i need to get that down to 150 bucks so i'm leaning towards a hand hewn timber frame, Douglas fir with a tin roof.
You guys don't mess around! Glad you're keeping track of the costs, it'll be interesting to see what the final price is. I think you should still build that treehouse though! 😜Great job guys, looking forward to the next one. 🍁
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Great start of the "WE SHED"❤❤❤❤❤
Awesome! I will be building something similar soon! The cost is nice that you are doing, but I would suggest at some point give a material list. That way in a few years the video will still be somewhat relevant. The prices will change, but the build list wont.
That would was more expensive than I thought, lol!! Before Bidenomics came around, you could have gotten it for about $500. Anyway, I'm surprised you didn't burn the bottoms of the posts that you put in the ground when the old posts you did that.

They are pressure treated and groundtreated. Charring them would be counterproductive.
I say you spend a bit over 1,000. You guys did well it looks like with your lumber cost Sounds like your planed cabin is going to be very nice and comfy. I am amazed you hauled all that lumber up your hill now that is a good truck and great driver. ! Beautiful spot to build this wee cabin amongst the trees . You folks are very helpful in showing us how you do things with builds and whatever and not have to spend a fortune doing it, Thanks . " Deck out back Yes agree Jen it would be lovely.
Hey J&J, it's been a while. You two are almost at 53k subs!! Wow!! So happy for you!! I'll be binging some recent episodes. Much love! (formally Disc Golf Beer). ❤🍻

Great..another project! Will be here watching!
Lol Jen. I used to be terrified of driving with the trailer on. I'm OK with it now as long as I'm in no position to have to backup. THEN I panic! 😅 - Loretta (obviously...lol) Thank goodness for our Jason's! Jason will watch later. We've been busy working on the house. I think you paid $3000+✌️🇨🇦🇺🇸❤️

@@OffgridwithJayandJen sorry not sure why my comment is duplicated. Happened on another channel today. Weird!
One of the things I do with the posts in the ground, … I use the national electric code and set the post on some gravel and pack gravel all around it and NOT use concrete…Why do they do this? It makes the posts to not rot so quickly… even being pressure treated. Concrete makes the water (that will get in between the wood and concrete) rot the wood, as it soaks into it. Gravel makes and allows the water drain away from the post, under the ground. pat

My wife and I like your channel Love your license plate
I did not realize how steep your driveway hill way. WOW !! I really like the idea of a deck off the cabin on the tree side. The cabin will be very useful for storage and as a wash house. {that's what Granny would have called it}
Good start guy's 👏. Also was good to show the going prices for similar designs and their build quality or lack of. I know you won't fall through your floor that you build.
Great price for your lumber, I was off on my price by 250.00.
$1,500.00??? I like the overhead small windows in the front for sure gives it a slick look. Take into consideration on the pitch of your roof for snow??? Exciting Jay and Jen LOVE IT!!! YIPPEE and God Bless you all.
Muskegon dude approved !
Lookin forward to this!! J & C

Your idear is brilliant for a decking. but i would do the decking on both sides of the high sides. so you have to views. away from the house. with the decking a small roof over it. also need a wood burner in there 2. take care phil

you should wrap the bottom of 6x6 with metal so soil doesn't come in contact with post that's where it rots the fastest
@featheredcoyote5477
20 күн бұрын
Wrapping with metal will hold moisture between metal and wood.
@billsmith-wq5or
20 күн бұрын
@@featheredcoyote5477 you are wrong the reason for the metal is because what rots is the mixture of air and moisture at the base remove a fence post after couple years and what is rotting the base of the post where it touches soil
@featheredcoyote5477
20 күн бұрын
@@billsmith-wq5or And you think a piece of metal wrapping the bottom portion of a wooden post that's set in soil won't rot? For me, pour concrete and use a metal U bracket that is set into the concrete but above the soil. The bracket is bolted to the post or column. That's how I prefer.
@billsmith-wq5or

@@featheredcoyote5477 absolutely with out doubt been doing it for years maybe you should goggle it if you have some doubt
I'm thinking somewhere around $500 for all that lumber and supplies.
👍
Dormers aren't that complicated Jay, you got this let that extra light in!!
You spent 400 more than what I guessed. But then what do I know - obviously!🤪😍🇨🇦😍🇨🇦
It always much better to build it yourself.. If you buy one your paying for materials, plus labor that double the price...
How exciting! What size is it?

That how my daddy got alot of his tools.
Nice idea, but my brother used pressure treated boards right in the dirt and they ended up rotting off.
build a wrap around deck on it
😁❤
I'm going with $1400. How did you get the post cuts so straight? Ever time I try to on 6×6 pt the lines never meet up that good.
I bought a shed just like that. If yours cost $900.my was Process triple the price up here. Too expensive here.moved my family back too State side.
