I don't understand why some people are leaving disparaging remarks about an infomercial or sponsorships. A lot of these companies are smaller than they rely upon channels like this to showcase their products. I would never think that you could run an AC off of solar. It's up to each individual whether they believe the person or not but I wouldn't be subscribed to you if I thought you were liars. I'm also not mad that you got it for free. You have like 50,000 subscribers and that can reach a lot of people people with like-minded interests.

I appreciate that Scott......there is definitely a huge misunderstanding from some folks about the whole YT world. Without these awesome companies sponsoring smaller channels like ours, there wouldn't be a channel, it's simple. Without our subscribers there wouldn't be a channel......most folks understand how it works...but the 2% that don't get it are not something I worry too much about. We appreciate you my friend and thanks for being one of the good ones here. Plus I really had fun with this video and answered a question and problem we have had literally thousands of comments about. Win win

There’s a lot of talk about heat pumps these days..i think the ontario government is starting to give rebates or financial help for those wanting to switch over to a heat pump system for economic reasons. Such a great idea! I look forward to seeing your updates through time. I’m interested to see how it consumes power over time, especially on your solar setup

I think in the long run we will be increasing the size of our battery bank, but honestly I can run it all day long on sunny days because my 2000 watts of solar panels have excess power to spare during the day....so as long as the sun is shining I can run it zero problem. If no sunshine.....then my 5kwh system could the unit for what I would guess is 6-8 hours.

WOW! That is flippen awesome. It looks like MRCOOL thought of everything from a tool kit to finishing touches over piping. Since we run 50 % of our cabin on solar (4.8kWh), I will be interested in the the drain on your system. Cool and heat. In April/Oct we run a propane heater to take the chill off vs. the woodstove. This might be a better option. Thanks for taking this project on. You two rock. 73 & God Bless. JohnyMac

Hey buddy.....as you may remember our system is of similar size and we ran the unit for 8 hours straight during the daytime that week when the Temps we in the high 80s. As long as the sunshine was on my panels, it didn't even effect the batteries.....we pull in about 1200-1500 watts all day long with the good sun exposure we have and that tracker following the sun all day. I did not run it once the sun was off the panels because it would obviously draw the batteries down within 6-8 hours with only having 5kwh Here as well

I'll be starting to build a log cabin on my property in W. Virginia in the late summer. It may take me a while - a couple of years even - but when it's done I'll be looking to install a unit like this for sure! And great that its DIY! Great video Jay - everything simply and clearly explained and demonstrated. And Jen reading through and calling out the instructions to keep Jay on task and mistake-free. Great teamwork!

I'm sure you will be really happy with the unit after install.....a lot of the labor and costs of having someone else doing it would be running the electrical from your house panel over to the unit itself.

I was thinking of the same thing for our place, glad to see your video. I will be curious the long-term effect on your power storage if you think you might need more storage since you will run this unit more as time goes on. BTW, hope the skeeters are not as bad by you as they are here in Northern WI. Brutal is all I can say.

I think it's great one of the reasons I've never considered off-grid is because I am very intolerant to the heat. I had a traumatic brain injury and when I get hot I can have severe migraines and potentially seizures. The climate is getting hotter and hotter and this is a wonderful solution so I thank you for bringing it to everyone's attention regardless of if you paid for it or not.

The Mr. Cool just gets power from a junction box coming from our solar shed. That junction box splits power from our inverter....half power goes to cabin and the other line goes to the Mr. Cool. Fusable disconnect to make it safe. We didn't focus on the electrical portion of the installation because I'm not a professional, and you can't really give advice about that kinda stuff in videos 😉
