Stargate on producing Sam Smith songs with KOMPLETE | Native Instruments
Музыка
Pop production duo STARGATE are behind some of the biggest hits for Rihanna, Sam Smith, Katy Perry, Beyoncé, Chris Brown, and more. We visit Stargate’s Mikkel Eriksen in his Los Angeles studio to see how Sam Smith & Normani’s “Dancing With A Stranger” and Sam Smith’s “To Die For” came together using NI KOMPLETE products like ABSYNTH, MASSIVE, UNA CORDA, SESSION STRINGS, and more.
Mikkel also makes a track from scratch using his voice and GUITAR RIG effects, as well as giving us a look inside LAAMP, Stargate’s music production school in Santa Monica.
Check out all these instruments in KOMPLETE 13: www.native-instruments.com/pr...

I like what you said: try, try, try... find the magic moment where things are different and interesting but stay in the same format. Nice lesson you gave us. I am not a professional but this is what I like in music creation. Start with an idea, develop, try...And result is always different at the end. Thanks.
Hvor totalt fantastisk det ville ha vært å se den helt komplette utviklingsfasen deres fra søk etter idé og hele veien frem til sluttproduktet!! :)))))
Thank you so much, Native Instruments and Stargate, for this great episode. Really did enjoy it.

The KOMPLETE bundles definitely have some 💎 in there ... you just have to take time to go through the sounds, functions, & FX to make it work for your sound. Glad to see some of the old school favourites haven't been forgotten. Alicia's Key's is still quality amongst other Piano libraries. Great Video! Stargate are 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Apologize This has been my go to preset for a while, sounds amazing in lots of genres (for instance I wouldn't think of Massive when I'm composing some neo-soul or progressive rock, but this preset just fits everywhere) and it's perfect as well to double my real bass !

I hate videos like this. I love this guy tho!!! Im really glad I watched this!! Musical maturity shine as his calm and logical composition philosophy reveal gems like - :you can't be too precious". I love that!! I have an understanding of this for myself, but the phrase he uses embodies so much of what I have been trying to improve on recently. For example - letting go of the belief that any one track or take is magical. If it came from me once, its me, etc. Its been a long process of learning to trust myself. Both as a mix engineer and composer. Something about this video really allowed me to feel a connection with a fellow musician and learn from another's experience. I mean, I get it. It sounds obvious. But to someone who typically gets bored or annoyed with these types of things (and that's me not the content! lets be clear) - It was really such a nice thing. Super grateful - big thanks!

my best guess is his speaker volume was much lower than it sounds in the video when he recorded. it's probably in there a bit but so low that it just adds to the vibe instead of sounding messy?

Amazing video. Always love to see the sausage making process of songwriting. I have to say, being a novice who only knows how to use Logic Pro X, Pro Tools looks like a real mess of a DAW to use.
@AndreasArianto
2 жыл бұрын
I used to use Pro Tools in the past, but I only use Logic Pro X now and I can say that there are many pros in the industry who use Logic Pro X really extensively because this DAW is also very rich with features to help us create music, dare I say, more intuitively than when I use Pro Tools to write music from scratch
@bw2937
2 жыл бұрын
The ones that use pro tools normally produce without using much midi, mostly audio. PT is much better for that way of working. (benny blanco, max martin, dr luke, andrew watt, charlie puth etc).
@BJG1Faulkner
2 жыл бұрын
Learning to use Pro Tools in 2022 isn’t necessarily a “requirement”. You can achieve the same results on Logic, Studio One, Ableton Live, etc. Doesn’t matter what you use to put it all together but the basic idea which is what homie from Stargate is tryna get across is with some basic music theory which everyone should have, the right “sound palette” (plugins, samples, drum sounds) and an imagination, you can make records just as good! 👍🏾
That's nice they started an academy after being successful to help the next generation.
I love Stargate's simple approach to music. I think we producers sometimes make things too complicated when music doesn't need to be. Interesting > Complex

Yes, but when you do have minimalist arrangements you absolutely need to be sure you have an amazing top line because if not the song will fall apart, less going on means the spotlight is all on the few elements you’re hearing so if your melody is trash or your singer doesn’t have character it typically won’t land
