I think the pirate dude you can recruit can fill that role. Too bad the German guy from Mars cant be recruited. He's a slimy a-hole that would make a great pair with the pirate lord.

It's honestly one of her more enduring character traits. "You're not SERIOUSLY considering helping this moron out some more are you?!" I got a good cackle out that.

I choose this as my final choice because when you side with the uc you basically get a outfit and 250k and that’s it but if you join the fleet not only you get 250k but soon as you ask naeva about if you still get called a rook she will say that you earned a room and become a captain and get a captain outfit with 5% crit damage yet most people on the discord choose the uc cause it was ‘the right thing to do’ tell that to Blackbeard

I hate how the dialogue options for this quest line, whenever anyone asks you why you choose the fleet, boil down to "money, i like killing, I don't have to explain myself" I probably would have stuck with UC if it wasn't for the fact that Ikande was incredibly unlikable, and for most players, he forces you into a life-or-death scenario under the threat of being labeled as a pirate if you refuse him. And locked out of that questline. Not only that, but towards the end of the quest, right before you're supposed to make your choice. He absolutely traits you like shit, he's just incredibly mean and disrespectful to you, thankless and so on. Not only that, but you have no guarantee you see is going to give this money that was owed to the Freestar Collective, to the Freestar Collective. It's pretty much been wiped from records and you're supposed to just trust this dude his already doing something illegal to get results, who is driven by ego, and known for having a temper. That money is undoubtably just going to the UC superiors of his. I genuinely wish I could tell him to his face, that I chose The Crimson Fleet because he treated me like shit after putting me in danger. When you return to the fleet, you're treated as a hero, everyone onboard the key loves you and thanks you and says nice things to you. They treat you rough at first, but they're a bunch of pirates. Afterwards they treat you like family. Not to mention the key has some of the best merchants in the game and they are all very likable. While sysdef only has two named NPCs and no merchants. They don't thank you for shit and you lose one of the only big settled areas on the east side of the map. Sysdef is also a separate entity from the rest of the UC military.

SysDef is the Intel branch of UC. The spooks. I agree with you, Ikande was an ahole. The missions he gives you are pretty much extra legal and put UC personnel in danger; if anybody gets shot, you have to wear it and go to prison? No Sir, at least the Crimson Fleet has your back. And lets face it, they are more interesting. The Pirate Boss is a lot more interesting and likeable...

@@PappyGunnNo, the spooks are Aegis. Sysdef is literally a branch created to deal with the pirates so that the Navy wouldn’t look bad constantly losing to the Crimson Fleet. Ikande is shoved in without resources, support, or help, and treated like a joke by the higher ups because the CF keeps winning, just like they did when they were facing the entire Navy. Ikande actually treats you pretty well, as long as you follow his rules. Which is another thing about him, despite being put in a very bad position, he manages to maintain a high level of morals, and have a dedicated crew, many of whom have personal tragedies from the back of the CF, that the rest of the UC is fine just writing off and forgetting about.

I picked the pirates because SysDef sent me on secret missions to screw over their own organisation, needlessly putting their own Marines and personnel in danger. They could have provided me with papers, uniforms and orders, to facilitate infiltrations, but they chose not to do so because they were operating extra legally. The when the inevitable happened, they branded me a criminal and wanted to inprison me. So I said screw the deep state, at least the Crimson Fleet has your back. Yeah, Sarah Morgan didn't like that, but then again, what does that HR Karen like anyways, besides breaking your balls??

one of the things i like the least about Starfield is how the main companions are all goody-two-shoes, morally upstanding citizens. The game does give you "evil" options but the moment you do anything off that path, they start judging and fingerpointing. Most of the time, i completely ignore them, i don't like to feel shamed for playing however i wanna play, please and thank you

I wish you could kill the main characters like in Morrowind or New Vegas, I was ready to shoot Sarah after she kept disagreeing with my decisions, I basically started the game with a backstory for my character being a ruthless assassin.

To side with the Crimson Fleet, you have to join side UC SysDef first. To side with the Vampires in Skyrim: Dawnguard, you have to become a vampire hunter first. These seem like poor design choices. It's not easy to rationalize a character who would do something like that. You can't just be a bad guy, you have to be a good guy who became bad. That seems very...limiting.
