You can include Michael Jackson as a contributor to the fan animation as a fan himself. The guy literally donated his music to Sega 2 put in the sonic game. That's how much of a gamer he was.

Metal Sonic with teeth is some new kind of nightmare fuel.

This is genuinely the most terrifying version of metal sonic, I don’t get how Robotnik could be in such close vicinity without freaking out. you wouldn’t catch me within a 10-mile radius of that thing. Great job. I love this.

Yes yes I am actively trying to solve how to keep the same pipeline for non humanoid characters so I need to come up with some solutions before I can really rig and animate furry organic characters. I am not an animator or rigger so I have to feed it into iClone CC4 pipeline and hope to find a way to maintain facial blendshape data. Right now its all a mystery still. Please give me some time :)

I'm obsessed with the Metal Sonic model. It's such a wonderfully creative spin on an already brilliant design, with the slightly altered proportions and utterly horrifying facial expression- And the legs! The coloring of the backgrounds, models, the pure passion packed into this whole thing! I'm not even going to complain about the wonky camera angles or movements, it gives the finished piece just that much more personality. Literally my only wish is to get a better glance at the full models; I can't get enough of all the little details.

I forgot to mention in my original comment, but upon first glance I couldn't even tell this was ANIMATED- I just saw the Eggman/Robotnik model and I thought it was a real live person! It felt like seeing a professional studio trailer from some alternate dimension, where people got a version of the Sonic cinematic universe that actually went out of their way to include Metal. Genuinely incredible work.

Thank you for appreciating all the little details. That whole tail end was chock full of BTTF II references. Delorean fire trail, space time bending shock dash, and Robotniks Doc Brown scream when metal warps back to the lab Terminator 2 style.

I love how this Robotnik/Eggman is a mix of ALL of his designs, even the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog design.

Yeah eventually I will move on to other characters and storylines but it may take years lol. Its not easy to make these things because of the fidelity of graphics in this day and age. We basically have the power to run near movie spec cinematics now in the palm of our hands thanks to Unreal 5. HOWEVER cinematic quality content and level of detail - even for stylized works - is usually done by a whole team of professionals, not just one dude with a wacom tablet lol.

It’s like a one of those mobile zombie game ads.

Yeah I made all this stuff because we never get to see Sonic really look next gen or more realistic in the games. Movies franchised influence all the level of polish. Thanks no no Im not good on animation yet. This is all some stuff I jankily bashed together in CC4 iClone 8 to make a short film happen somehow. I dont have time to be proper triple discipline in rigging and animation. I am mainly trained in 3D asset modeling and texturing. I dont plan to do collabs so this is it for now haha! But yes the whole point in making was because the movie franchise disrespects Metal Sonic by skipping over him for Shadow. I could not take it lol!

i love this the music the details but also the idea that dr robotnik actually has pride and an ambition for his creations that goes overlooked.

The idea here is that if he ever lost jet power, mechanically he should be able to physically outrun sonic in any situation. Aint no way a front knee join ever gonna outrun inverted legs. He could also lunge on all fours and pounce like a predator with his arms being that much longer. The whole intention was to make Metal more savage.

That would actually work. If Jim Carrey was in a robotic suit, because of the explosion, making him a bit portly, like his cartoon/anime counterpart, it would make the next movie more closer to the game franchise than ever all they have to do next is give him the Robo eyes that he gets in the comics. That and the Michael Jackson Speed Demon used in this video would be perfect if it was going to be in the movie that and look-a-like. This is why fans should chip in movies. Nowadays they have ideas that Hollywood wouldn't use, or better, yet refuse to listen most of the time. Also, I really love metal sonic's design

Thanks, yeah I shot it in 24fps, then Robotniks cape physics were too heavy so I could not render the movie proper. I ended up having to desktop capture all the cinematics which it could run in real time but it is very heavy for the PC so the final came out choppy. Its my first ever short film, many lessons learned. Sorry about that!

i mean think about it, everything you are looking at was modeled rigged and animated from scratch by one man! not only that but he also sampled the music you are listening to all on his own! and to top it all off, he made an extremely storytelling animation about the birth and training of Metal Sonic with them! come on this gotta be the best fanmade Metal Sonic piece media youve ever seen :D

Thanks, I cant actually animate so while I appreciate the comment I dont really think the actual motion in the feature is all that lol. I had to use a lot of the library of motion available in Reallusion studio stuff for CC4 and ActorCore, absolutely none of them are made for non standard toony characters, inverted knee or hindleg IK, or anything in combination with the head to body scale ratio of Sonic Movie style characters but I did what I could what time that I had. All solo dev work here so there another limitation - and I dont plan to ever deal with sharing my models to a 3rd party so I wont ever be outsourcing any animation from anyone lol. If these were my own non IP original characters, maybe, but I cant share assets I dont own.

Yeah he is likely to get overlooked. Which is really sad he is really my favorite badnik out of all of them and totally underrated. I think the US side fandom made the jump from Sonic 2 right smack over into Sonic Adventure and those who were not old enough to really know and play Sonic CD the voices are too few to really influence the Movie verse enough I suppose lol.

@@excalibur1767 Bipedal robots with inverted legs look way scarier running at you. Metal Sonic can now literally rage out and stalk his pray on 4 legs like Metroids EMMI robot or a Demogorgon. Again this is an enemy character. I dont think they get bonus points for cute or likability lol? Here are the reference callouts from the idea board. Yes in his proto form he is supposed to look goofy and bumbling about just like any bipedal robot does when its first learning how to walk. Also lol I cant animate so yeah these are trash stock anim loop for the simple stuff. Had to hand make some of the other motions that dont exist and well Im not an animator so all of it probably looks derpy in the end.

Thanks, Im still not really sure if they will even do Metal Sonic. Which was part of my motivation to even do this short. They already debuted Shadow - that mess is already completely skipping Sonic CD. Which is hella disrespectful lol. But we will see!

@@wivvledivvle7598 Wow thanks! Yeah and please believe there is no procrastination like 3D procrastination. You get to a part you hate to do, or get depressed over some life drama, and the project may never ever even get finished. Its a struggle every day but I try not to stop moving forward. Doing something every day even if its small, helps.

Metal looks scary and in a goodway, kinda looks like if super buu from dbz got a irl look

Yeah, dope right? Check out @Yuzoboy KZread channel he does all kinds of MJ remixes I was inspired by his work. The audio is not great because I could not get clean clear acapella of Speed Demon for my mix on here BUT these youngins out here who never actually played Sonic CD North America version when it originally released in the 90s have no idea why these songs fit perfectly. Thanks for appreciating the small detail!

This is breath taking!! A full lenght hollywood Sonic movie with this style and visuals would be a DREAM!! Would you be interesting in joining the Sonic SatAM Reanimated collab? there are still 30 clips left. But we plan on tackling future episodes!!

@@Shinjitsu_84 Oh, okidoki. And yes it's in all different styles 😃 2D , 3D , Stop Motion , each clip made by a different artist who chose their own style. The clips are 2-3 seconds long each. I thought you would be interested but i didn't know the animation and rigging was done by someone else. But still, this looks great. We all love your work ! Keep it up p.s. do you think the animator who worked on this film would be interested?

Um please read the description lol. I did all this project 100% by myself. I just used an avatar based app CC4 by Reallusion like a noob to do bootleg my rigging and anims because I dont rig or animate. All good though, maybe some other times.

There is no animator that worked on this. See my other vids to notice how trash of a journey I have been through just to produce this. Lol

This is so good!!! The metal sonic model really feels like a artificial version of sonic and the legs look like springs for extra speed!!!!!! And the Eggman design is just amazing I would love to see more with these two models!!!!

idk i kind of like it. It gives this version of Metal an added effect of him looking more menacing and stronger. It's definitely a fun design of Metal that've seen out there thus far with fans doing their own designs for him.

In reality its a static wind inlet. So are all the other major holes in his head to help with aerodynamics when only is feet and chest are doing the propulsion. Also once he is battle damaged he will look so much more creepier with the original camera eyes and T-800 teeth getting revealed under a broken face plate.
