Congrats, Padawan Obi-Wan is now released.

I can see why they went for a taller sculpt, as Liam Neeson is fairly tall compared to some of the other actors in the film. I always think of his alternate hand as the "Credits will do fine" pose. Awesome review, can't wait to see you compare this to the Figuarts version.

It's a shame they don't come with a brown robe.

The headsculpt is done real well. All I did on mine was a little touch up on the beard and painted him new eyebrows the only thing I wish I could do is repaint the eyes but I almost always screw up doing that so I just left them alone lol. But I swear, Liam Neeson is underneath that generic Hasbro paintjob.

I feel like that's the case with a lot of the Black Series humans, but especially here. I can't wait for someone to throw a good paint job on one so I can get jealous and find time to do it myself.

Wow! Surprisingly impressive!

i think he looks alot better then most figures in the line. I saw a post with a factory error where his eyes were missing. strange they are separate from the head sculpt.

Hasbro announced last year when Qui Gon was revealed that the eyes were a separate sculpt. I have even seen reports of some showing up without eyes. Nice fig though, just got mine.

LOL! Robo your "A rubber mask over the face" comment @ 3:42 almost made me fall off the couch! 😂 I laughed so hard, I needed that! Also that would be a great idea to use the lower skirt of Qui-gon for a Tusken A'Sharad Hett Jedi custom. I was on the fence about getting this but I might have to at least grab one for sure at least for a good custom if nothing else.

I sort of want a 9 year old Anakin now. Maybe a statue? Would look nice on the shelf. With a sticker of his shade being Darth Vader.

A robe and a poncho would have been sweet!

Overall I like Qui-Gon but its like you said, the sculpt is there but we're missing crucial paint apps to bring out that detail, as is the norm for humans in this line (at least now). Otherwise the rest of the figure is good enough and works well for a Qui-Gon body.

Finally freaking got this today. About $100 bucks and he’s the only character I would pay that for.

They should make that weird green big eyed octopus tentacle headed Jedi from episode 2

They need to make an Archive version with the same body but a new head with printing tech

Dude, those intros always get me xD Its been going on for a while now, but I really do like the touch of comedy into these vids. That's one reason why I enjoy watching! As always, great video Robo! I'm super ready for the SH release. But by the time that comes out, the BS one may be around the same price as the Hasbro one... only time will tell... lol

Qui-gon is my favorite Jedi. I with the figure wasn’t so expensive

I'm surprised there wasn't any cloth in the skirt area. I really wish they'd start packaging robes with the Jedis. I could order one from Malaysia for 15 bucks...but I got an extra Obi Wan for 15 and those robes are -sooo- much better. I'd rather have had a robe than a second hand.

If they dared to make a jarjar binka figure three things will happen 1. People will not buy it for it is their worst nightmare 2. Someone will buy it then destroy it so it causes no harm 3. Someone will buy it and play with it

Hey Robo, I think you're right about shf vs Hasbro lately. It's been going on for a while I'd say, and as you mentioned in previous video, SHF's attention to detail isn't like it used to be. Their sculpted details, for example, are sometimes lacking, like what we've seen on Anakin and the preview of the new Vader.

I've started to repaint my black series figures, so I'm actually looking forward to this more than the Figuarts - though still waiting for it to come up for pre-order on the site I use :( P.s - Old Boy CTTS have repainted Qui-Gon and Lando - Lando looks F'ing amazing, like holly hell, it's a mini Lando (better than Figuarts quality), though someone still needs to sculpt a smiling version

Having these side-by-side I have to think the stock EPIII Obi-Wan head is a little small for the Qui-Gon body, it's just has a lot of height on the other body.

Man I have to say the last 20 figures from Hasbro has been consistently better than we are used to, and then Figuarts has been hit or miss....for a 20 dollar figure from hasbro i will say this is such a great figure....paint isn't perfect but he has an extra hand and the lightsaber is great...I have to say i am extremely happy with this one. HASBRO IS GETTING BETTER hahaa hopefully i dont jinx it.

Hasbro is "trying" because for the first time. They have competition. Figure Arts and the rest with official licenses make competition. Our free market at work.

i got mine yesterday and after u said that about the eyes face and beard u made me second guess it. i went to look at it and man i think u got a faulty figure mine looks fantastic

Dont feel ripped off Robo I looked at other figures and the movie and I think the asymmetrical facial hair is actually screen accurate . As an on and off goatee man I can remember wanting to apply a magic marker to Liam Neeson's face back in 1999.

Naw, I passed on that one, I'm not a huge fan of BvS and it was only in there for a minute or two. Put my money towards more Star Wars, heh.

I love this figure, mine seems to have weak knee joints so I have to be careful when posing them for my Toy Photography also the eyes that they're experimenting with is pretty interesting....by the way thanks for following me back on Instagram! that's where I post my toy photography shots (@danny_r27) It's really cool to be followed by someone I been watching for some time and will continue to watch more now to see if I should buy a certain figure for my toy photography!

Great review Robo! Definitely want to pick him up. Hopefully he's as plentiful as the Ep.3 Obi-Wan :-)

The robe I had on him at the end is a rickhor custom robe, it's about the same size as the Ben robe I think.

Another owner of the site had most of the creative input and the back and forth with the factory, the rest of us kind of cheered him on and helped with online tech and such. There are four of us that had a hand in the line, mine's just smaller than the rest, haha. Still a cool little thing to do.

Easy pass for me, it's just the paint issue that kills it for me. I just can't take these human black series figures seriously. I love their helmeted/alien characters, but their humans look like lifeless puppets, I used to be much bigger into black series, but ever since I started collecting Marvel legends, I feel like buying these black series figures for 20 dollars is a scam lmao. Marvel legends have better paint and come with so much more, for only 20$. I don't know, just wanted to get that off my chest. I still have yet to find a 6-inch star wars line with good faces, S.h. figuarts is my top choice, but those weird hair colors. I don't understand why they can't just like, not do that lol. Mafex is OK. Somebody needs to make a line that focuses on putting maximum effort into human likeness, they can be limited in articulation, come with little accessories, but have great paint applications and great head sculpts, good god I'd sink so much money into a line like that.

And it's mind-blowing that Legends and Black Series are the same company. But I can see new, individual sculpts for every figure in the line eating up most of the budget, cutting into the paint apps.

See, that's a good point, but I'm not too sure about that. The black series line DOES save money by packing in nowhere near as many accessories as ML's, so wouldn't it sort've balance out? Not to mention, they HAVE re-used a lot of body molds before. Examples: The Scarif trooper body mold (Used with Scarif Grunt, Captain, and At-Act driver) and the Stormtrooper body mold.

Is this wave in the wild yet?

Great review brother!!! His face looks a little to rubery to me. Like I heard in another review he looks like a great cosplayer dressed up as the character. Not bad and still a must get but definite room for improvement. I'm getting the Figuarts I just hope they hit a home run instead of shitting the bed...

I can see the cosplay thing. The Black Series lack of paint just makes it look off and a little cheap. Waiting to see someone paint this up before calling it a bust.

The EPI Obi-Wan is one of my favorite SHF figures. Good build and the face printing came out great. It'll look a little odd against a sea of Black Series though, there's a quality gap there.

Do the pupils in the eyes seem a little large, or is it just because the eyes are set back further in the head?? It looks like there's not enough white in the eyes showing through. That said, I don't have the figure in hand to look at!! Lol

very glad to pre order sh figuarts qui gon. I can't stand the BS head sculpt, honestly as if BS stop trying....

The face is a near complete fail for me. The figure is an easy pass for me.

Ugh. Prequel figure = Automtic ignore. Apart from SH Figuarts. They get a pass. The BS quality works against it on prequel figures.
