This has vaulted to my all-time favorite black series figure. I bought 3 of them already. And I want 3 more. Nice review. Entertaining and informative as usual.

You missed a couple things...the dewbacks front legs swivel outwards...not just forwards and back like the back legs...also you mentioned we have a black and orange sandtrooper...but we also have the w hite pauldron sandtrooper and technically tje shadow squadron sandtrooper for a total of 5 different sandtroopers including this one...other than those minor points...as always i loved your review...I look forward to the next one...have a great night

Once this goes on sale, it'll be beautiful with the Beasts of the Mesozoic raptors and desert set.

Thats what I was thinking. These along with those BotM sets and heck even the new Jurrassic World stuff can make for a great monster, beast display.

Great review Robo! When you were talking about the deco on the Trooper I was like "I know where this is headed" lol. Now you've created another SW character, Theodore the Dewback lol. Love the pics at the end and can't wait to grab these. I know i would like at least 2.

I agree, we may have got that vehicle thing that won't peg. Great review and especially the samples.

The CG Dewbacks in the Special Edition didn't have fur on their backs, AFAIK, however the original static prop did, and the fur was colored kinda brownish. I believe the reason they were called Dewbacks is that dew would collect in the fur running along their backs. The vintage Dewback had fur sculpted on, but the POTF2 one, based on the SE CG one(s), didn't, so I believe this is the first Dewback since the vintage one to have fur, even if it isn't painted.

another difference between old and new sandtrooper is that the details on the helmet are blue on the old one and grey on the new one

This makes me want to three creatures from the “execution” in the end episode II

Great review just picked up two as of yesterday. Looking forward to getting 4 more to complete the army build in addition to the other ranking Sandtroopers. Now about that Bantha.

Great Review as Always, one point of Articulation You Missed on the Dewback though, is the Front Shoulder. Not Only does it Swivel, it is also Hinged for In and Out Movement, but the Hinge Joints are VERY STIFF! I was able to get My Right One to Move but it felt like it was going to Break the Left. I'm gonna have to get a Hair Dryer and Heat them Up.

Today’s hunt wasn’t a total loss. I finally completed my Sasquatch baf at target. Somebody done got all the Star Wars figures, poor Ranger Solo was just hanging by himself.

I've actually been seeing these at Targets in my area (SoCal). Found two last Friday, seen a few more here and there when I was making Marvel Legends/Black Series Tarkin runs. Walmarts in my area are just empty.

Awesome figure! I definitely gotta get this to continue my ever growing Black Series collection (I'm hoping to go to conventions this summer being 1st summer to get my license back in awhile, to get BS wv1 Luke, Sandtrooper & all the bounty hunters from the 1st series as well. Plus Anakin & Obi-Wan, & the clone troopers. I missed out on the wampa & the speeders. I did get Jabba, the Tauntaun & didn't want the Tie Fighter.

Yeeeees! Glad you got one mate! I really can't wait now :) Scale wise I think you are right, it works well. The only thing wrong is maybe the distance between the saddle and the hip and start of the neck area is shorter than in universe but that's it. Really nice review Robo

Oh yeah, it's definitely not perfect, but it's so fun I can overlook that.

I'll probably end up with 2 Dewbacks eventually, but I would army build the ever loving shit outta a Bantha. I need Banthas and Rancors and Grauls and a Varactyl and BARCs and Swoops. Gosh, what other mounts were there in SWG that were awesome. I can't wait for Maul's speeder to come in. 2 more weeks!

Would love to see an accessory you could replace the saddle with, to create a bareback dewback.

There's actually a hinge in the "shoulder" on the forelegs too. It's not just a straight swivel, it's just a SUPER TIGHT joint that lets you move the arms in and out (hence the sculpted deep scoop around the arm). I actually had to use a hair dryer to heat it up and get them moving on mine.

I hear that, I was scared I was going to break it, even after heating it up multiple times.

I absolutely want a bantha and would love to get a modified tusken raider. I think that's a pretty safe bet for a future beast pack. It's really the last obvious choice for the OT era. Maybe a ronto but I doubt there's enough interest for it. Maybe a good Haslab offering. I just bought an extra Han tauntaun and broke the horn and did some repainting to give Luke a tauntaun, which I think we'll never see at this point. If we don't get it in 2020 for the anniversary I think it's guaranteed to never happen. Looking at the tauntaun belly there's a glued in piece which could be swapped for rubber to make a tauntaun with warm guts. I wonder if that's something Hasbro thought about doing but opted against it. A few options for the prequel era come to mind: the eopie from Episode 1 (but they are pretty dopey and boring (though I love them)) and the lizard thing Obi Wan rides in Ep. III. They could do the Geonosis arena beasts but that might be a stretch. The kybuck Yoda rides in the Tartakovsky cartoon would be fun if they do a prequel Yoda figure but that is kind of an obscure choice.

I regret never picking one up now. It went down to 35 but was waiting for it to go down to 25 and then they were gone. Now the average is 120 and I’m really hoping for a re-release for it.

Once I get the dewback, i'll probably remove most of the weathering on the TK and add my own.. with the handy dandy gundam markers I own

Tangent question: Will they end up reissuing Bossk and IG-88? Don't care to drop 100 each when I have the original 3.75 inch ones, and intend to yank from package anyways. Just want em for display. Grabbed black series Boba for about 15, and 4 Lom releases soon. Should make for a cool bounty hunter scene. Unsure if Dengar is available. This dewback is cool. A lot nicer than the ones we had back in 70s/early 80s anyways. IIRC I got 3 free figures back then. Fett mail away, and R2/3PO which came with my landspeeder. The sandtrooper is a nice bonus with this item. Nice review. I sat thru your take on the Apoc series Xmen review the other day. Glad I found the channel. Good break downs.

Thanks man, appreciate that! I'm not sure if they will rerelease Bossk and IG-88, but with Dengar and Zuckuss on the way you gotta think they would do some kind of boxset for the 40th of Empire. At least I hope they would. It would sell like hotcakes.

The front legs are actually hinged outward too. Just very tight joints also.

I was holding off until I seen a good review and the Fwoosh came through, I will be using a Bandai Sandtrooper and as you mentioned some better paint/detailing on the Dewback, great display piece and another kick ass review.

I feel like the scale would be perfect with a Bandai trooper. Not that the scale is terrible but it is a bit small, would look fantastic with a SHF.

Mine is here, but no time to open! Lettering deadlines like crazy. But definitely this was put to coincide with the JW toys. Heck my first batch of those are arriving tomorrow!

The Fwoosh I haven’t grabbed the colossal yet myself, been either sold out or unavailable yet, but I snagged the Trash/Throw and Legacy one as well as that Indoraptor off of Target’s website. They all look rather decent!

You should kinda put the Bandai model kit sandtrooper on the Dewback just to see how it fits. For whatever that's worth, also a Mafex and SHF ones... if you have :)

how do you feel about jabba's sail barge? did you back it?

I got The Black Series Speeder Bike Vehicle With Biker Scout Action Figure. Does that count as a vehicle? I can't recall a number in the box, but i think it should count as a vehicle. I actually just got this sandtrooper loose on Ebay. I was never a fan of the Dewback TBH. I am building a diorama of "these are not the droids you are looking for" scene, and i noticed all the Sandtroopers have different colored Pauldrons [the shoulder pad]. The scene seems to have 6 storm troopers, and i only got 3 though.

I totally did. I have that lava trooper somehow but no other figures in the set.

You can tell me whatever you want, but Theodore has a look in his eyes as if he considers joining the rebellion. I would not trust the dewback too much.

I’m rooting for a Rancor packed with a Jedi Luke or the Rancor Keeper (I forget his name). They could keep the same size box (which looks like what they are trying to do) all they would have to do is have the arms and legs detached and have the consumer put it together. It would be awesome.

The Fwoosh I could understand if all backpacks were like that. But all different versions of the snow troopers packs are easy to put on. Maybe they learned from their mistake LOL

Definitely too small. I also think both speeders are too small. Especially Rey’s.

The weathering isn't new for this figure. It's just random for BS sandtroopers in general. I have a few sergeants from Entertainment Earth Imperial Forces 4-packs and they all have completely different weathering. EDIT: Actually the riders seem to stick to basically the same weathering. But one of my other troopers looks like these.

Mmm...it's an evil plot to save millions...the 3 3/4 size fits sooooo much better
