When the Endor scenes from Return of the Jedi were being filmed in Northern California, Peter Mayhew was warned not to wander off set while in costume, for fear that local hunters might mistake him for Bigfoot. He was often accompanied on set by crew members with blaze orange vests just to be extra safe.

No mention of his Jedi Nephew Lowbacca. Sasquatch also inspired the Chewie suit as well, and they actually had armed guards on Peter Mayew in the forest filming the Endor scenes because they were afraid hunters might shoot him thinking he was Bigfoot.

1:45 - I was 10 years old when Star Wars hit theaters in 1977.... I was 11 years old when the Star Wars Holiday Special was shown on television. I can safely say that 11 year old me loved it. Watching it in my 50s (it IS on KZread)... I can now appreciate the sacrifice and torment my parental units suffered because I just HAD to watch that. Give us a break, though.... it was the ONLY "Star Wars" content we got after the original movie (which would later be re-released in theaters with the new subtitle "A New Hope"), which we just KNEW wouldn't be shown on television for years to come. We didn't have streaming, or even home video back then. I did have (and should still have) a "Super 8mm" film reel of "selected scenes", which was silent and in black and white.

Chewies son turned out to be force sensitive got the mange and learned to speak galactic basic and later took the son of the man who took his father from him and trained him in the dark side. Lumpy was snoke.

I knew about Chewbacca having a Family on Kashyyk although I didn't know his old Man is a Dirty old man. 8: Well of course Chewie retired! I can't remember a Wookiee's actual average lifespan but he was 200 in "A new Hope" 7: HA! I'm a Star Wars Nerd/Geek/whatever the term is! I knew about the Claws and the Wookiee code of honour. 6: Yeah if he didn't get a medal then he got one a bit later. 5: Going back to point 8, thanks for pointing out the lifespan (If you hadn't guessed, I pause the video, think about each section then add to my comment bit by bit). 4: HA! (Part 2) I knew about the various animal noises because I watch Wildlife documentaries . . . .and Star Wars Documentaries too come to think of it. 3: HA! (Part 3) I knew about the costume/outfit changes too. Have you ever tried to shave a Yak? And Finally, all I can say is, Chewbacca is an amazing character. The original actor, Peter Mayhew, worked as an Orderly at Mayday Hospital (Now Croydon University Hospital) and got the job as Chewie as soon as he stood up to greet George Lucas. Another fact: The Revenge of the sith wasnt the only prequel film we saw wookies. The wookie species can also be seen during the vote of no confidence in the Galactic Senate during The Phantom Menace.

It was fan service. He should have been given the medal in Star Wars, when Han and Luke did. That said, Wedge Antilles and Evaan Verlaine should have also got medels.

This is such a small gripe, but… Gareth, as host of this show, can you FINALLY upload a new pic to be used as your intro graphic? It just seems lazy that the host can’t even be bothered to wear a Star Wars t-shirt, and always has that “Team Cap” pic. Minor detail but, come on. lol

I've always had difficulty accepting the "Star Wars is for kids" thing. In addition to charred corpses and numerous amputated limbs, the political storyline in the prequels doesn't seem like something intended for young audiences. It's boring enough for us adults.
