The scene were he walks up to the grave stone is the first time he had been to his father's gravesite since the funeral. So it was very emotional for him. Not acting

I think you’re the only reactors to put two and two together with the dates. If his dad wasn’t around to see him hit it big, at least he was able to be there to experience the fruits of his son’s labor in getting signed to a major label and beginning the ascent to making his dream come true.

I think of my grandma every time I hear this song. And, I too, cry every time. She passed away 7 years ago and I loved her beyond what I can express. To this day, I can’t talk about her without shedding tears. She was the most selfless loving person I’ve ever known and I only hope to be half the woman she was.

This song came on as I drove to my sons last soccer game in jr. high. He was 12 at the time. It was over whelming on that drive hearing this song. When this child lost his dad at 3 1/2 and he’s never missed a beat. It’s the only moment I truly had a complete melt down just wanting to should you should be here he’s more Amazing the we could imagine. They won the game and the song came back on during the drive home. Shout out to people that lose parents early and still achieve their dreams. He’s 19 now and in college and working. I just feel so blessed to have had his father for 14 years and him now for 19. This song is beautiful.

All kinds of moments have that sort of bittersweet feeling of "this would be perfect if only you were here to share it with me." My best friend in school was diagnosed with Leukemia at 13, she was 17 on the day she stopped fighting. She would have been 38 today. So here's to 20 years of "You Should Be Here's:" two marriages, a divorce, the births of my kids who never got to meet their Aunt Missy, and just the thousands of random little everyday moments that make up a life. RIP, 3/15/1983-12/27/2000. I'll see you again some day. *edited for spelling

Difference between Blues and Country music -- in a Blues song, you lose your job because of your drinking and come home to find your woman has left you. In a Country song, you lose your job because of your drinking and come home to find you woman has left you for your best friend and they took your truck. They may have run over your dog when they left, not seeing him, barking by the RR tracks, in the rain.
