I'm Irish American, my dad is from Limerick, Ireland so I am a dual citizen. I learned of Los San Patricio's from a Mexico amigo in college. I never considered them traitors even though I am American because as an Irishman I know why they did it, they were badly abused by wasps on both sides of the "pond" much more so in Ireland itself under occupation by britain for hundreds of years. They are heroes. I don't blindly support my government when it is wrong and it was wrong and many times still is.

@Bluepurgatory1 Better than being under the thumb of the crown. EU is largely responsible for Celtic Tiger. A Celtic Union of a united Ireland and independent Scotland would be in a better negotiation position with the EU. They could also align with other EU countries that have similar concerns.

@Bluepurgatory1 I've lived in Europe so I do and while the EU is far from perfect it is better than being under the thumb of the crown. A recent poll showed 85% support for the EU in Ireland. They don't want to go back under the thumb of the crown which is what would happen if they exited and their economy would crash. I am a tech professional who has worked with companies and startups with offices in Ireland and California so I know a lot about that economy. Ireland is likely to gain many financial institutions because of brexit, several big ones like Chase and Citibank have already announced relocation to Dublin. You are probably just an arrogant loyalist or brit.

@Bluepurgatory1 No its not, I've lived there, travel there often on business and pleasure, have family and friends there. Snow flake? obviously a trump deplorable moron. People in Ireland supported Hillary by over 90% in polls and trump is about as popular there as ebola.

Nunca he entendido la historia, a vende patrias como Benito Juárez le hacen estatuas, monumentos, nombres de calles y colonias, pero a los San Patricios que dieron su vida por una nación en la cual no nacieron, ni siquiera tienen un monumento como verdaderos héroes y hablo no de nombrea de calles como martires irlandeses, hablo de un verdadero homenaje.

Also known as "The Reddish Valiants" "Los Rojos Valientes" México honored them Saint Patrick's Battalion with all their names written in Gold and they have a specific day to celebrate their valuable supporting during the US invasion. As well hundreds of schools, avenues , libraries, etc has the name "BATALLÓN DE SAN PATRICIO" Saint Patrick's Battalion

I'm also a former Marine, it is my belief that the San Patricios were justified by the US military code of conduct, as you know, the order of priorities is: God, Country, and Corps.

I am so furious that in Mexican history, the Saint Patrick Batallion (Los San Patricios) are just credited to a single battle (Battle of Churubusco) while they were battling against the invading American army since the Battle of Monterrey. Unfair and unjust I hope the regime of Andrés Manuel López Obrador gives real credit to those heroic Irishmen and their European comrades; honor and the blessings of God Almighty to my brothers in the Catholic faith, greetings from Puebla, Mexico!!!
