എങ്കിൽ ആദ്യം നിരോധിക്കേണ്ടതു സർക്കസ് ആണ്, മാഡം.

Mam അത് ചെയ്തത് കാരണം ഒരു കുഞ്ഞിന് പോലും ജീവഹാനിയോ രോഗമോ വന്നില്ല. ഓരോ അച്ഛൻ അമ്മ യുടെ വിശ്വാസം ആണ്. സുന്നത്ത് ചെയ്യുന്നത് തെറ്റാണു അതിനു വേണ്ടിയും സംസാരിക്കാൻ മടിക്കരുത്. Ips ഓഫീസർ ആയതു കൊണ്ട് സാധിക്കും സാധാരണ ക്കാർക്ക് കഴിയില്ല. 🙏🏻

ഇത് തുറന്നു പറഞ്ഞത് നന്നായി, തുഷാര! ഒരുപാടു കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങൾ കുത്തിയോട്ടത്തിനിടയിലും അതിനു ശേഷവും സുഖമില്ലാതെ ആശുപത്രിയിൽ അഡ്മിറ്റ്‌ ആകുന്നുണ്ട്. ശരീരത്തിലെന്നപോലെ കുഞ്ഞു മനസ്സിലും അത് മുറിവുകൾ ഏൽപ്പിക്കുന്നു!

I am really impressed I had sent my children due to my mom's nercha without knowing what it was. I had no clue how to implement it. But devi herself created an air and we could do it. My husband who did not have any serious spiritual instinct became devi bhakthan after that. What worried me a lot was the children were not given water because they will want to bathroom.!!! The bathroom facility was so.poor that my younger son 8 year old did not pass stool for seven days.... But now they have shifted to kalyana mandapam. I hope the facility is better now.

Parents should stop pushing their faith to kids and torturing kids in the name of religion. I stopped going there since years after I saw this ritual being inflicted on a small boy. His tortured cries are still ringing in my ears.The temple authority should stop this cruelty. Child rights authority may step in too.

Very very true & nice explanation mam😊👏👌I am also dead against all such rituals like കുത്തിയോട്ടം, വേൽകുത്തി കാവടി etc…. ക്രൂരമായ രീതിയിൽ ദൈവങ്ങളോട് വരം ചോദിച്ചു വാങ്ങരുത്. My father is a Vedic pandit. ഒരു വേദങ്ങളിലും ഇത്തരം ആചാരങ്ങളെ കുറിച്ചു mention ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്ന് അച്ഛൻ എപ്പോഴും പറയാറുണ്ട്. All these rituals are man made customs. ആനകളെ എഴുന്നള്ളിക്കുന്ന ആചാരവുംനിറുത്തണം. നെറ്റിപ്പട്ടവും മറ്റും കെട്ടുന്നത് പാവം ആ മൃഗങ്ങൾക്ക് വളരെ irritating ആണ്. Hats off to you mam 😊🙏

Thank you Madam for the video. As a society we are still very much irrational in our thinking. We equate God with some benefits or other and do not contemplate on the more important concept of spirituality. Even with so much education, we are not inclined to get out of our tribal culture.

Dear Sreelekha mam , I am a 66 year old lady living out of India for more than 4 decades . I have never heard of these ritulas or Attukal temple until may be 20 odd years. ( I am not from TVM but from central Kerala)After listening to you about the pain and agony the little kids go throgh in the name of "bhakthi" , it really brought tears in my eyes . I was leteraly laughing about the so called privilaged pongala ideel you and other VIP women had done . Chettikulangara kuttiyottam is still in practice I guess without any harm to the kids ??

You are right ! Perspectives vary and there is a certain sadism that people enjoy and ascribe it to the Deity. We are such stuff, pusuing outdated customs and celebrating it and trying, in the name of faith and religion, such atrocities as though we still belong to the stone age !! If you ask someone straight on some one's face, do they really believe, or do they think its correct, tje answer is not at all well defined or assuring.We are, and have been, blind followers and wish to continue thus. May be, to some staunch believers, such postings are blasphemous !! Nice to see that there are atleast a fwe, like you ma'm, who wish to probe deep into such issues👍

Well said mam 👍🏻. I'm a teacher and i also talk to my students about the blind practices followed in my religion, christianity. I'm also a strong believer but i never think that my God likes to see people being hurted and neither does he has any gender discrimination as practised by christians in certain ceremonies. I would recommend people of other faiths to come forward and speak bravely of the injustices in their religion.

It's akin to the discomfort endured during ear piercing, a practice many undergo without question. Children partaking in Kuthi Ottam learn resilience, not suffering. Just as teaching a child to swim involves initial discomfort for eventual safety, Kuthi Ottam equips children to face life's challenges and its ups and downs.

Have you done it as a child, Madhavan? Please see a picture of Attukal Amma, where she is astride a demon, Daarika. Kannaki never sat over any demon. I only said Attukal devi is not Kannaki, whatever her virtues maybe. I did not exaggerate the pain of children during kuthiyottam. I saw them screaming, it was unexpected for most. Many fainted also. My husband, who was a pediatric surgeon at TVM Med Collège has a lot of experiences after every pongala in treating infected children, so has doctors of Attukal hospital which is nearest of temple. Just do your research.

In your video, the only valid point appears to be the concern about hygiene during piercing, that also I am not sure as I have not personally attended the same. However, after discussing with friends and relatives who have undergone the process, their experiences differed from what you portrayed. Many didn't even recall it being particularly painful or traumatic. Some likened it to the discomfort of getting their ears pierced. This suggests that the pain and screaming you described might be exaggerated. Like children crying at a jewellery shop when their ears are pierced or at a hospital when taking injections, it's often because they're not accustomed to the experience and not the way you exaggerated. Moreover, over 60-90% of these children come from families where relatives (including their parents) have already undergone the same ritual. It's unlikely that parents would subject their children to something they themselves couldn't handle. Regarding the portrayal of Kannagi in your video, I never claimed that the Akktukal temple is solely dedicated to her worship. My concern lies with why you depicted Kannagi as weak and questioned her worship. This portrayal can be offensive to those who revere her. Instead, why not highlight her bravery-how she fought against injustice and stood up for truth and justice, even when surrounded by powerless women who would sit and cry or even choose to end their life? She didn't falter because of her husband's actions; she remained resolute, earning her worship. She was perhaps the bravest of her time. Every religion has its practices, some more extreme than others, yet criticism often seems disproportionately aimed at certain groups online.

Madam i am also from Trivandrum but at present settled at Cochin, when I was there thats about 28 years ago this" Pongala " was not a big event as its today ,it was done in and around the temple and some of my relatives also used to go that's all but after my marriage I was settled in Delhi till last year , actually it was there i came to know that Attukal pongala became a huge affair that gradually many Delhi malayalees formed groups to go "Pongala tours " and those people were mostly from outside Trivandrum and many people used to ask me about this as i am basically from Trivandrum , i knew the Kannaki story related to the temple and went there 2-3 times and my second daughters "chorunnu" was also done there , but now its a pan India affair and whole Trivandrum is making " pongala" it seems and i am totally against this "Kuthiyottam" offering, thank you for doing this in your channel 👍

DAY BY DAY PONKALA TREND IS INCREASING.....BEFORE HAVE YOU HEARD OF "KARIKKAKAM PONKALA" NOW THAT COMES SECOND AFTER ATTUKAL PONKALA THEN THOZHUVANCODE PONKALA AND GO ON
