One of the most useful analogies to help create an optimal swing on the forehand side is to imagine you're skimming a stone across a lake.

Because of this video I have been thrown out of my local squash centre. Please inform the use of stones are prohibited on the squash court.

Hahahaha... Are you an Englishman??
This is brilliant advice, I am going to try this. This is stuff you don't normally get taught.
I didn't know you were training with Captain Ray Holt. :-) Fun fact: He does play squash in TV show.
Great tip about the skipping stone!! Thanks!
Merci beaucoup j'ai enfin compris le geste du squash!!!! Bravo pour ces explications
Where were you 2 years ago. My hitting amped up now-Thanks.
What a great way to explain it. Thanks.
Really useful explanation of the basic forehand, nice and simple and it works very well!!!! Thanks for the quality video.... would you say it can be applied in a similar way to the backhand, ... set up then lead with the elbow then release through like throwing a frisbee a long way!!!! What do ya reckon!
Dear Jethro, First, thank you so much to provide us so many good advices which contribute a lot to improve our squash skills (well, just hope it is the case for me, ha ha ha !) About this particular tip, i must said it is slightly confusing to me : on one hand, it seems very logical and simple to follow this analogy (swinging skimming stones), but however... then the wrist/arm motion associated with this particular "throwing" action misses entirely the arm/wrist PRONATION motion which i think (if i do not make mistake) is necessary to perform (in general) a good forehand stroke (maximum power with minimum energy expense). More practically, i have hard time to integrate naturally pronation (and supination) in my forehand (and backhand) stroke motion, instead of using to often (and often lonely...) the "wrist snap"... And then, if i follow your tip, i could forget the pronation motion !?... Then my confusion. (BTW, could you please indicate me some links to your videos explaning ways to execute/integrate pronation & supination in our strokes ? Thanks !) So, if ever you think pronation should not be forgotten in the (usual) forehand stroke, could you please "complete" your analogy in order to show (supplementary) tip to include this pronation motion (after or during the stone throwing motion ?) and by the same token, to eliminate my confusion (ha ha ha!) Thank you again very much, and have a great day ! Tanguay (from the other side of the ocean, Sherbroole, Quebec, Canada)

Hi buddy. The swing and movement is like the skimming stones analogy. The wrist action isn't comparable. Your cocked wrist position stays back a moment longer to strike the ball evenly through to target. If it doesn't feel natural you're doing it wrong! Best of luck. Graeme.
Is it like mandatory to lunge while hitting the ball? I record myself sometimes and i dont see myself doing the lunge. I just started to play a month ago :)
The only thing greater than this explanation is his stache

Is it Mo-vember?
Badman.
Please show your raquet angle at point of contact with ball. Otherwise your demo swing is for beginners pointless.
