And final point was disgraceful. Coll obviously couldn't access the ball cos Asal was in the way. If not stroke, at least a let. And it was such a close match. Totally undeserved win.

It seems to me that for some reason they couldn't use the video referee, and obviously the ref didn't see it. I also bet that Asal didn't see it himself as he didn't watch the ball hitting the front wall, looking at the replay. But I find it strange why the tin makes the exact same sound as the front wall on this court. On any squash court I've played on, the tin always gives a very loud clang when hit.

I really don't know if Assal is playing a phycological game or not? however, I also watch table tennis games and he reminds me with Harimoto who had a similar attitude. He should see how he ends up, the only difference here is in Japan they enforce discipline, will Assal's trainer be able to do the same?? Assal is a very talented player but also uses aggressive moves against his opponents, this will work for few more games but eventually be exposed to all referees. I hope he matures quickly and become a real champ 🙏

This has nothing to do with harimoto, a player who shows great sportsmanship as do pretty much all Japanese athletes. He only screams to keep himself motivated, and he doesn’t even scream at the opponents. Asal on the other hand purposely tries to block opponents and cheat to win. Clearly different.

What Cole was complaining about in the final point, was that Asal grabbed him with his hand as he tried to get past him to get the trickle boast. Asal has done these dirtiest of moves before on huge points, he did it to Diego Elias but the refs caught it in that case. Reaching out with you hand and grabbing an opponent to impede them and hoping the refs don’t catch you is the definition of dirty player who needs to cheat to win. Every time I see Asal lose now, which he does quite often now that the refs know how he cheats and have largely stopped him from doing so, I get a warm fuzzy feeling. Asal deserves all the karma that’s coming to him. I mean what kind of player pretends repeatedly that his balls aren’t down, and grabs player as they try to get past him, never mind all the other dangerous play he’s exhibited. I can’t wait to see this this guy lose.

My guess is the IOC thinks squash smacks too much of elitism, British colonialism, and in some countries (esp the US) private clubs & East coast universities. Which is too bad because it’s an amazing game played by phenomenal athletes and is crossing socio-economic borders & opening up all over the world.

Ultimately I find the gamesmanship entertaining, I think there are too many softies watching squash. Tactical fouls and underhanded tactics are involved in every high level sport, I wish the toxic sportsmanship culture of squash would change, I reckon it would make it more entertaining and perhaps even stand a better chance of getting into the olympics

That must be why millions of dollars have been spent on replay and review systems and levied as fines on owners and players over the past two decades across the sporting world. It's because the fans hate this toxic sportsmanship culture! Glad we finally cleared that up. The IOC is bound to love a sport that makes no money and has serious refereeing and cheating issues. Just ask wrestling and karate. Genius!

@@georgekrumm1857 if millions of dollars were spent on a simple replay system then I’ll be damned. We don’t have Hawkeye technology like badminton or tennis for out balls or tins or double bounces. Shocking

@@JK-jr1gs It looks as though you missed the phrase "across the sporting world" in my first sentence. Or you intentionally made a strawman, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

Your definition of 'entertaining' in terms of sport is quite interesting. You prefer tosee cheating, lying and foul play rather than skill, tactics and respect in order to enjoy sports? Can't think of many sports besides football where foul play and disrespect are the norm. (Ice) hockey maybe?
