Lol, he _wasn't_ a great character. Almost every time Spyke got focus in a story, he was the angry, rebellious black kid and little more. By the time he started to develop beyond that, he was no longer a regular on the show.

Spyke was actually one of my favourite mutant powers to have. He's not the strongest, fastest or the most powerful, but he's the most versatile mutant of the bunch. Wished we had more of him tho.

Flaming bone bullets, wall-crawling like Spidey via spikes.. And who needs grappling hooks when you can wrap ropes around his spikes and have him shoot them upwards? Not to mention perfect aim too

Spyke was one of the best in evolution loved his new powers when he could add fire to his abilities he needs to be seen more

His powers are surprisingly effective in situations

I give Spyke credit, he actually did pretty good in combat against Brotherhood members like Toad and Blob And Evan does have an interesting character growth arc in the series from goofball teen to serious defender of The Morlocks

@@marcelzed1154 oh sure. the "flying brick" template of superhero is exceedingly common, for instnace. but in THIS case, a mutant with those exact abilitites that wound up hanging out with the Morlocks.. the main diffrnece between Spyke and marrow (other than color and sex) was marrow started with the morlocks and joined the Xmen..Spyke started out iwth the Xmen and joined the morlocks. they even both had Storm as a focal point.

Spyke had his issues with being a teenager and mutant... evolved as his abilities had. From X-Man to Morlock to X-Man again.

Wow, Spyke was actually more creative and versatile with his powers than I remember

I wish the show had worked harder on developing Spyke beyond the angry, rebellious black kid tropes, but his secondary mutation gave him some good-to-great moments near the end.

Finally a video of Spyke getting some recognition.

What I've always liked about X-Men is that there's no such thing as a token character. Every character is a 3 dimensional person fleshed out with flaws and abilities. If you read comics you know that they have the most diverse set of people from around the world that you will ever get

I get what you are saying and I do think Marvel should honor Storms roots more often annnnd not pair here with Black Panther like Africa is some small place. But in Spike's case it would have felt as weird as asking Barack to acknowledge his roots. Man grew up around so many 🌝 he used to tell people to call him "bArrY". It could be done... It's just not normally what Americans do.

Spyke is such a great and important character. I loved seeing him make an appearance. I actually would love for the MCU to bring him back and make him relevant again.

I think spyke is one of those characters with such a strong adaption in one piece of media that it blows all the others out of the water. Especially when they haven't been in any other major cartoon adaptions. This version was my guy. I wanted to be him so bad it wasn't even funny.

I liked this version of Spike I wished he was explored more in the other incarnations X-men Evolution was a classic of its time.

Spyke kinda looks like Miles Morales, even though Spyke appeared in 2000, and Miles appeared in 2011.

I love x men evolutions childhood show fr I even got Disney plus just re watch all of it 🔥 and spyke was always a cool character

That is not Spike that's Quill's and his powers are nothing like Spike's. That random guy that ambushed Wolverine in the forest, his powers are more like spike's.

I remember gravitating towards his character when I watched the show.

He’s like mile morales of the x men. I forgot how cool he was. Pretty cool power I would like to see on the big screen.

He wasn’t non-canon not in the traditional sense. The beauty of adaptations, whether they be movie or TV shows is that they have their own individual continuities thus their own individual canon.

I would always forget his skin would armor up tooz you can see the plates in his debut episode. His powers naturally evolved from there. Idk where the flaming spike powers came from. Wasn’t really a hint of foreshadowing there.

So before his entrance into weapon X wolverine would grow his claws they just wouldn’t be metal. Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe that they were made out of the same stuff spykes spikes are. Bone and caretin (things that make up hair and nails) it’s intresting that they made him related to storm and not wolverine unless there’s a extra layer of subtle storytelling here I don’t know about.
