In a 60 minute event Mat Fraser got a 60 second penalty. In an event that's less than 30 seconds, a 0.5 second penalty would be equal to that. But the penalty was dumb anyways. Knocked her and Pat Velner completely out of the games

It didnt make any sense. 2 years ago when Kara Webb/Saunders didn't do all the lifts and missed 3 they timed her other stuff and decided to just add 6 seconds to her score. No penalty just using her stats to make it fair. Why couldn't they do that here?

I’m blown away that a 10 second penalty was added to Brooke Wells’ time and essentially eliminated her from the games. She’s a top competitor. A one second penalty in this type of event is devastating, why does a 10 second penalty exist? These athletes work all year to be able to compete at this level. Terrible.

This format is not very forgiving. A 10th of a second would have been appropriate, but ten seconds, Why not trillion second penalty. On another note, The people running the games are playing with fire. This could be a popular are profitable sport, but it's being run and presented by amateurs. This is popular among xfitters, but it should be on a major network and viewed by everyone. It's going the wrong way. IMHO

Congrats Rogue, you made me lose interest in these events. You have timechips and such and still have to identify the athletes progressing to the next round manually? Same with the commentators. They use what they see on their screens but clearly have no access to the data of the timechips. In 44:16 you can see a screen showing "time to beat xx:xx", while the commentators are still guessing if 29 seconds will be enough. You should start working together with the teams providing the coverage for your events.

It's favoring younger unknown athletes and your top name veteran athletes are getting cut. Its going to make for an unwatchable final. This is just awful. Did they anticipate this, or did Rogue get cheap because they didn't want to supply and transport all the weights.

  • @thinkforyourself2109

Good question. One answer I saw online (not sure if it's true; use your own judgement): "they do so many squats that most get an anterior pelvic tilt that makes them stick their bellies out more ... it is most likely excessive lumbar lordosis/anterior pelvic tilt. We use our lumbar erectors so much, perhaps sometimes when we shouldn’t, that they get over facilitated. Constantly forcing that arched position. That’s why you see a lot of these girls, lean, six packs, but distended bellies. The TVA is the muscle that keeps the belly tight, and it isn’t strong enough due to the disproportionate use of the erectors."

I've watched a couple of crossfit games prior to this one, and yeah this one is quite bad. Not entertaining, just kinda depressing.

it's only depressing b/c of how salty the athletes are - the problem isn't in WHICH events they used to cut it's just HOW the system is set up that's garbage ...but it's only the first year

Good work by all the athletes. Absolutely abysmal judging and point system, I don't want CrossFit Games to go mainstream till they fix their shit. Absolutely stupid penalty system, unclear rules, budget chip system. This looks like amateur game show hour that is just unacceptable for the great level of these athletes.

This was by far the worst planned event in the history of Crossfit games. Only to think that two top athletes were DQ'ed for a side step and their whole season ended like this is sad to say the least. Crossfit should seriously review their new cut system.

Why does race matter? The Crossfit Games suck anyways. Racial minorities are doing themselves a favor by not taking part in this nonsense.

@Narly waves i was just about to say the same . Sports not only start out white but ARE invented by white people and even the compitions that hold more than one sport compitions like the olympics are invented by white people . So since crossfit is in its infancy (has a meager 12-13 years to its name ) black people are not joing up yet .

What the actual fuck happened with tbe judge who gave brooke wells a penalty ? She litterally did nothing wrong and that judge caused her to miss the cut.

By far the worst programming ever of the crossfit games. All endurance engine based or sprint based. No heavy barbells or even barbell cycling events. And all of the cuts have been made. Not fair for a lot of the athletes. Get rid of Castro...

Yeah the new format is absurd and entirely ruined the entire event. Whoever decided this needs to accept the result and step down. Why ruin something that was not broken.

@@_NotEnoughMana few of these events were traditional crossfit, what box have you been to that trains sprints on a football field? I think they decided to go with cuts to make the events easier to manage. I prefer the old format over the new.

Crossfit women need to focus on hourglass figure movements. Movements that focus more on the glutes and less on the obliques. Such as... 1. Goblet squat [wall ball tosses] 2. Sumo Deadlifts w/Sandbag [alternating shoulder loading] 2. Kneel to Lunge, get up [sandbag shoulder loaded] 3. Split Squat, Deadlifts w/kettlebells or sandbags [alternate/rotate]
