Spring Reverb Unit Surf Settings For Guitar (Drip Over 9000!!!)
Музыка
Let's explore some settings and sounds that we can get with the dwell, mixer and tone of our SPRING REVERB UNIT to get our drip level to over 9000! Your guitar will surf away!
These are obviously just indications based on my own thoughts and preferences. I think everybody should experiment. Also I might have used just a liiiiitle more breakup in my sound than intended, but hey: ... yeah, I've got nothing...
(Sorry for the bad resolution, but my phone broke so I had to use an old webcam...)

Man, that sounds amazing!
I've had my Fender reverb tank for ever, but never used it for surf till now. Your video really showed me how to get the best surf sounds out of it. I've subscribed and really hope you continue with your great surf guitar videos. Love your style of explaining things.

Thank you for your very kind words! Comments like this matter so much. I am recording an album atm so I've paused the channel for now, but, I have plenty of ideas for new videos.
Like and subscribe for more twangy surf madness!
A Fender Champ amp whose output goes directly to the spring tank. That's what the fender Reverb unit is. Without spring tank you have a Fender.champ.amp. I think that was from Uncle Doug's Tech Channel.

I wonder if that is correct. I mean the reverb unit's circuit is the 6G15 while the Champ has had the 5E1, 5F1 and the AA764. Maybe more. Maybe I'm missing something, but this is what I know. Anyway, sometimes I use the reverb tank as a preamp: tone at max, dwell at zero and the mix at max. The signal actually overdrives a little, maybe also because my reverb unit has a tube rectifier.
About twice your age plus. Got my tank about 2yrs. ago from humbucker music 2 years ago. Send it back to doctorsZ in Cleveland for service. Had one tube that was questionable. I warm it up with dwell way down around 4 or less. Still love the spring reverb more than any of my other pedals all the digital stuff all of it. It makes all Guitars sound Glorious. Have an Ocean's 11 and a Topanga and a few others as a backup. But none of them beat the real spring tank vacuum tubes. This is one of my favorite topics.

Yeah, only the Surfybear sounds like real tube unit. More or less.
Uncle Doug's KZread channel has a four-part series on building this tank. Perhaps he meant the general layout is like a champ or I heard it wrong. I am reviewing parts of this series myself. I bought a new doctor Z clone which has a solid-state rectifier. So I cannot play around with this too much. Would like to try a 6K 6 but I don't know if the circuit can handle it. I am just trying to get myself to jam I'm probably three times your age and handicapped. Love what you did with your setup.

Ou, well. I'm not too sure myself either at this point. I've also been meaning to try a 6k6, but I really don't know if it could break. Gotta ask someone who knows better. Thanks! This was my first video. I will soon be back with more content and hopefully good ideas. By the way, If you're 3 times my age then you are 99, which I doubt!
Damn, this sound fucking great! :O
