I will just be playing at home and do not need to replicate the original surf sound, but need something clean and small. Hi and thank you! Well, I wouldn't recommend a Tweed Fender because they really distort so early even at low volumes. In that case better go with a blackface style Champ or a silverface. It's up to you, but as long as you have the spring reverb you just need an amp with a nice clean sound that you like and you shouldn't go wrong. Good choice on the guitar. I'm making an updated video on the surf guitar sound so subscribe and check it out when it's out! Cheers

@@fuzzyloomchannel Thank You so much for the help. My first and second choice was a 64 CUSTOM PRINCETON REVERB or a 64 CUSTOM DELUXE REVERB but I was thinking they may be to powerful for just a practice at home amp? In a large store the sound levels differ because of the size of the building is so much larger than at home in a bedroom. I do like they each have tremolo. Do you think this would be better for the clean sound and not being sooo loud? Or do you turn up the amp volume and just adjust the guitar volume? Thank You!! Subscribed!!!
@fuzzyloomchannel7 ай бұрын
@@ericjames7680 Well the truth is even 5 watts can be too loud at home for a tube amp, but at the same time it will also be too silent if you ever wanted to play clean with a drummer. I would personally get the Deluxe and then possibly use a good attenuator with it to get the right tone at a manageable volume. Of course if it's at home you could even use plugins, but it's nice to have a real amp and earn how it reacts and all that.
@ericjames76807 ай бұрын
@@fuzzyloomchannel Thank You! Yea, really do like the 64 CUSTOM DELUXE REVERB, maybe at volume 3 may work for home use? Or do you kick the amp volume up and just adjust the Guitar volume? Or maybe just get a long cord and play in another room! Haaaaa!!!
@fuzzyloomchannel7 ай бұрын
@@ericjames7680 The goal for nice clean tones is to push the amp's volume just up to where it starts to break up and distort and then dial it back so it's on the edge of break-up, but still clean. The guitar's volume I would not touch because in most cases you lose treble and definition. It's more common to use it when playing with fuzz or overdrive so you can control the gain from the guitar, kinda.

I've been playing guitar for 37 years and I can say that the classic surf tone can be replicated for around $120 and only with 2 pedals. I wont say which brands as Im not getting any money from anyone, but I will say play with the presence on the amp and tweak the highs. Then you just need a reverb pedal and a tremolo pedal. My distant cousin was Merle Travis and he played with all the greats and as every generation of my family is guitar players, the secret just gets pasted down. Dont forget, ebay is the place to be looking. 2 pedals sir. Also, your spring is way too dominant. Nice video though!

Also this is my first video and I'll make a new one soon. All you need is single coils, a reverb unit in front of the amp and a clean amp with lots of Watts.
