Spring-Heeled Jack | The Terror of London

Victorian era London was rife with spooky stories of ghosts and killers, and few were as scary as the legend of Spring-Heeled Jack! A ghastly monster with a horrific visage, sometimes covered by a mask, with a dark cloak, burning red eyes, metal claws and even the ability to breathe fire! He stalks the streets of London at night, preying upon the unwary, and leaping away across the rooftops before help can arrive. While many speculate Spring-Heeled Jack to be a ghost, demon or monster, some believe he was an actual person!

I'm actually ✍ a series of novels about this guy, saying that he was a French nobleman named Pierre who at age 20 was cheated out of his birthright by his unscrupulous younger brother Jaques, and went to a steampunk-style London with his Scottish friend James (who plays sort of a Q in James Bond or Dr Nefario in Despicable Me to Pierre), and after seeing the crime-ridden streets, he dresses as a devil, with mini flamethrowers (activated by blowing on the back of them) near the mouth of his vacuum-sealed devil mask/helmet and spring mechanisms in the heels of his boots, and began acting like a kind of Victorian-era Batman, working with the Po-Po fighting crime (all those women and other victims he attacked are shown to have had mob connections that the historical records left out, and he attacked them for interrogation purposes) and a wide variety of colorful villains like the psychopathic serial killer Jack the Ripper (in book 1), the artist anarchist Dorian Grey and his master thief ally Katrielle Landon (in book 2) the split personality 2-in-one duo of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (in book 3), the master thief Arsene Lupin (in Book 4), not to mention the demon barber of fleet street Sweeney Todd (in book 5), and more, the first book is titled, Springheeled Jack: Terror of The Underworld, Book 2 is titled Springheeled Jack: Return of The Terror Book 3 is titled Springheeled Jack: The Terror Walks Among Us, Book 4 is titled Springheeled Jack: Fall of The Terror, Book 5 is titled Springheeled Jack: The Unchained Terror, and Book 6 is titled Springheeled Jack: Triumph of The Terror. Now for some trivia, Pierre was, as a child, a nerd who was bullied by the aforementioned Jaques and his cousin Andre, who is described as "a brown-haired boy, tall for his age, like me and Jaques, and he had a scar across his left eye, from a fight he always bragged about when around Jaques or his friends, and on that same eye, he had longer eyelashes than his right eye" and when they were little, they would Bully Pierre, they even nicknamed him peewee as a sick joke, and somehow this bullying was ignored by Pierre's parents, wait, did I say ignored, I mean encouraged, because Jaques was the favorite child, due to being the man of action they wanted Pierre to be, as opposed to his brother, who was more of a student and thinker

I have actually read two accounts of people who claim to have seen him in modern times. One was about a family who were out driving (don't remember where but I guess London) who report seeing a dark figure leap across the road infront of their car and then leaping up to the top of a building. Another account was about two people, I think a girl and her mother, who said they saw a dark figure sitting ontop of the roof of the building infront of theirs. He saw them and laughed before leaping onto the next building and dissapearing into the night. I think the first account was from early 2000s while the second was from the 2010s

This is, I believe, the third version of Spring Heeled Jack I've heard. But I seem to almost always learn more from watching your videos. Not to say the others haven't been informative, they have in their own way. But for example: I did not know that Jack was a common name used in the same way of the name John Doe. While learning in general about Spring Heeled Jack and Jack the Ripper, usually I prefer listening about SHJ. Mostly because, from what I personally can recall, there has been better accounts as to what SHJ looks like where as Ripper there wasn't much. I like being able to envision the various versions of SHJ in my mind, aside from the images that are shown. Once again a marvelously done video! Thank you for your time and effort! Your voice is always perfect to listen to, especially for the myth's like SHJ.

Spring-Heeled Jack actually went after men as well but preferred women. However his attacks were rarely leathal and he seems to have been more out to harass and scare people rather than killing them. He did injure a few people but only ever supposedly killed one person from what I have read. Jack the Ripper also went after sex workers while Spring-Heeled Jack seemed to target random women and men. The Ripper also was more methodical in how he killed people, removing specific organs with surgical skill. Springy, meanwhile, simply just punched, slashed and burned people

Quite an intriguing figure, for sure, from his appearance, abilities, right down to his imperviousness to harm! The various theories regarding who, exactly, was Spring-Heeled Jack, all seem plausible to me! Very thought-provoking, indeed! Well done!💜🌍

Two years ago I was in the back of a car with two females both of them in the front, we were driving in rock ferry wirral. We noticed a dark figure under a tree then it changed shape almost resembling an elongated panther, it jumped over the car bonnet and disappeared down an entry. We actually thought we'd hit it. 100% true.
