Zombies | Legends of the Walking Dead

The idea of someone returning from the grave as an inhuman monster is found in nearly every culture on Earth. However, there is something particularly unnerving about a group of rotting corpses roaming about in search of human flesh! They have gone by many names over the centuries, but we know them best today as zombies. In this program we take a look at the history of the zombie, from Vodou mythology, to George A. Romero's works, to just how and why the zombie has made such an impact on human society!

Dawn of The Dead 2004 is the greatest Zombie movie ever made. One of the reasons why I like it so much is because the Zombie Plague in that movie was caused by something Supernatural rather than being caused by a virus, radiation, or Space Spores like modern day Zombie movies. They went back to the magical roots of Zombies created by necromancy. People complained about zombies running, and stating that it will be impossible for a zombie to be fast because their bodies already came. But if you make the Zombies Supernatural that would solve the slow movement problem because the Zombies wouldn't be bound entirely by the laws of physics.

My favorite zombies are either voodoo zombies or the ones from George A. Romero's Night Of The Living Dead. The bloodthirsty, cannibalistic, flesh-eating, ghoulish, undead zombies from the late, great, legendary George A. Romero's horror movies are the best for me. However, I also do like the mindless, voodoo zombie slave because they are magical and very difficult to defeat. Like Simon William Garth from the Marvel Comics comic book Tales Of The Zombie. Garth was a ghoul controlled by voodoo priests and voodoo priestesses using an enchanted amulet that they wear in order to control him and using another enchanted amulet worn by Garth in order for the Loa, the voodoo spirits, to empower Garth and have him be able to receive commands by the houngans and the mambos and/or voodooiennes.

I'm surprised you didn't do more on Revanents in this video. If there's one form of zombies that have been making the rounds in popularity, its them. Sans and Papyrus from Undertale are proof of that alongside the Stalfos of the Legend of Zelda franchise. Great video and even better art.

Another well done video! I've never been fond of zombie's myself, and you summed it up (the reasoning) towards the end when explaining why most are afraid of them. About the only thing (tv, books, etc) I personally like concerning zombies, is Joseph Nassise's The Great Undead War books. There are both zombies that are treated like they are dogs (and seem to have a dog's intelligence in a sense), and then you have some zombies that actually have kept their intelligence, memory, and speech. Also, nice touch tossing in Scooby Doo on Zombie Island! I instantly had the song Terror Time playing in my head! Thank you for this video, and future ones to come.

Although being a modern film, the 2011 movie, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," depicts zombies in the pre-Romero tradition, that of being regular humans who have been "zombified" by magical means. This zombification creates obedient, yet ill-tempered sailors who serve under the fictionalized version of Captain Blackbeard in the film.

@@bushhippie7372 Thanks. I've read some of the actual "Jack Sparrow" books that were written by Rob Kidd. Like "Stranger Tides (film)," the books are darker than the previous "Pirates" trilogy and have a lot more intertwining of popular folklore mixed in with (films) established events to have or to come to have happened, (such as "Bootstrap" Bill Turner joining Jack's crew just prior to Jack acquiring the "Black Pearl.")

From "Fido" to "Warm Bodies" "My Boyfriends Back" to "Shaun of the Dead" and "Return of the Living Dead" even "Night of the Chicken Dead" (yes its a real film by Troma Studios, makers of "The Toxic Avenger") and "Thankskilling" the love of zombies has chomped into the skull of everyday life and eaten the brains of people worldwide.
