hey, don't know if you will see this, but if CFD and Spreadbetting aren't great for long term, what can one use instead if they want to go long and short for long periods? Can you do a video on this?

You can use shares, ETFs or even long term options.
Expiry date - spreads bet have one while cfds don't. Major point.
CFD should also be taxed free they pretty much same thing gambling

If a UK resident works in a full time job and earns i.e. 50k, what happens if he/she makes more than 50k in profit off of spread betting? Does that mean he/she has to pay tax on the profits above 50k? Or is it tax free regardless of anything?

So I’m fairly new to trading and I’ve opened a small account with fxPro and I’m trading cfd’s. Should I be doing the opposite and trade with spread betting?

This is up to you. If you are in the UK you can consider spread betting. If in Europe or elsewhere CFDs are the thing.

@@riccimcelwee4508 you won't feel much difference, it's more that spread betting is tax free on any profits earned whereas cfd's are taxable.
can a non UK resident spread bet?

Some providers will allow spread betting account for non residents. Most won't. But if you're not in the UK there are no tax benefits - better go with CFDs which are the equivalent. You will have to pay taxes on your gains with CFDs but you can also offset losses against future gains.
