Worth mentioning broker ‘slippage’ and that spreads are dynamic… in other words there’s significant risk if you don’t take these into account when trading tight margins and too large a position size.

Spread Betting and CFD Trading are very similar. One of the main differences is the way they are taxed: Spread Betting is tax free if you make profits (but if you make losses you won't be able to offset them against future gains). CFD gains are subject to tax (but if you make losses you can offset them against future gains).
What of Spread Trading? Are they the same in terms of tax considerations?

Some refer to spread betting as spread trading (like Trade Nation). However spread trading can also refer to futures trading.
Spread betting is playing the bucket shops
So spread betting is simply cfd.

In the USA you have options and futures trading which are also leveraged trading products.

@@ukspreadbetting Does the UK not have options trading? Of course you can make a spread with options trading in the US, so maybe some of what you say applies. It's not tax-free though 🙂

Options are only available on very liquid stocks and they are very illiquid to trade. I know because I've tried again and again! The liquidity is hopeless compared to the USA.
