The animation made it very understandable. I liked her explaining various strategies, i.e. as you get closer to your ideal profit price, shorten the trading gap from $5 to $2, so you don't lose a lot of profits.

This is the most clearest explanation I've heard concerning stop loss. You really take your time and go slow so everybody can understand it. Awesome.

What if I want it to trigger at a certain price and if it goes down it does nothing until it goes back to the trigger price?

OMG thank u SOOO much Suzanne, I'm reaching the next level of investing and this is one of the last things i need to learn, but i would like to see a video talking more about dividend investing and things such as payout history, pe ratio, volume, market cap and how they determine if a stock is worth investing long term or short term.

EXCELLENT EXPLANATION! I've been using Trailing stops for some time. The trick is in how to set the right level for your risk profile. Also lots of other considerations. (eg, wash rules), and getting stopped out in a flash crash. Suggestion for future videos: 1) Estimating a Trailing Stop Loss based on High Medium or Low Risk, 2)How to you use Trailing Stops to Buy instead of sell. 3) how do you do that with a bracketed order. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, ARVABELLE!

Precisely. Say for instance you were to protect your gains of 100%+ what would be a good trigger Delta percentage for such a trade?

@@walfordiii Dome people will use what is called the Average True Range, or ATR; the most common is a 14 day ATR. If you poke around you can probably find the math to use to set up a spread sheet; but easier is to use a charting program; TC 200 or STock Charts both will have it (you may need to do some setup). even with that information, it is up to you to decide how much of that you wish to use. for example, the ATR may be $2.27, to pick a number. That would be fairly tight stop, as in the last 14 days the stock averaged that much move. Or you might want to do some multiple of the ATR; 2x or maybe 2.4x . One ETF I trade had some large down moves; after taking the ATR I fgound tht the largest down move in a day was 2.4x. Hope that helps.

Thank you for making this video. It confirms my understanding of the trailing concept. Very helpful to see your graphic comparison side by side. Question: • Is there a an indicator you would recommend to help gauge the how far the temporary dips might go for say a 14 trading period? • Does price gap typically happens more so in penny stocks, as suppose to big cap S&P 500 or S&P100 stocks? • If the company decides to issue a stock split 4:1, thus the price is lower, would my stop change on its own automatically or would I have to cancel that trailing stop loss before the split, and make a replacement order?

This is the clearest explanation and example of TSL. Other creators just show confusing charts with very broad and vague general statements. Your content is the best so far specially for newbies.

I watched your 4 Basic types, & now the Trailing Stop videos. An Excellent training video explained extremely well. Silly, but I now have a nice deck of varying Order Type flashcards in my desk drawer. Use it to help me decide what type of order I want depending on the stocks scenario. e.g. - I have faith in a $10 stock & anticipate its rise... I may place a Stop Loss (Buy) order @ $15. If it trends up 5 bucks the order fulfills, & the game begins. Thanks Arvabelle, the best video explanations I have found yet! Recommended.

Always use these orders to protect your gains, and lock in your set prices. I don’t use these orders too often but if you day trade or move in and out of stocks quickly it’s a must.

With a trailing stop loss regular stop loss almost seem useless

Should have mentioned when your trailing stop loss is triggered it becomes a market order. Also more trailing stop % information was needed.
