spraying iron sulphate on lawn birds eye view with head camera on
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Just an interesting POV (point of view) video while I spray 2 customers' lawns with Iron Sulphate and seaweed.
The iron is there to kill moss (although we are legally supposed to say “control moss”) and harden the turf, while the seaweed is beneficial to the soil.
As I treat these 2 properties you get to see what I see, and the things we come across.
Sadly many people are not “into” lawn care like some of us, although they do want a nice lawn.
Because of this they tend to not maintain their lawns efficiently enough. Their lawns often get left with leaves on them for longer periods of time than I would like to see, and some customers don't mow as much as a lawn should be mowed.
This is just an observation by the way. People lead busy lives, and it is their choice how they want things to turn out. All I can do is my best and treat to the best of my ability, as well as giving the customer advice from time to time.

Great video thanks. Would you use iron sulphate to just green up grass even though no moss ? Only problem I have atm is Cinquefoil here and there. I tried weedol and resolva but nothing working really Can't understand customers paying and wanting a nice lawn then not bothering to do any work to prepare for you coming?

Hi yes iron sulphate can be a great green up! 😊👍 you may need to retreat difficult weeds after about 3 weeks spray them again
The iron of sulphate that you use ,do you get the powder and had water or do you get the liquid version .

Hi Frank for.commercial purposes I use a powdered version from my supplier.. however I've never used a liquid one and may just look at adding some in this year when I get on my own lawn fingers crossed
Hi Shaun what ratio of iron to water are you using please ie what weight of iron for 10 litres of water? hope you can help

Hi every pack is different. I use a powdered formula with about half a litre or 500g to 10 litre
Great videos! Subbed! Would you scarify, aerate and apply iron or would you do it differently?
@LawnRight

Hi Adam that order is fine as the last iron sprays any remaining moss spores... you could also spray iron a few days before scarifying to weaken the moss in preparation for scarifying

Hi Ive never personally done that. I would apply seaweed first then iron after so the iron stays on the leaf. Im not saying it cant be done but ive never tried that

What’s the story with the sticks and where do you put them?
@LawnRight

Hi.. I use them to guide me where to spray..moving along the lawn in strips. Get to one end and move a stick across. Walk to other and and repeat.. always overlapping with iron

@@LawnRight fair play that is some quick response. I’m not sure I fully understand. I use twine to guide me but the sticks would be great as it’s much quicker..maybe you might do a quick video explaining how the sticks work?

Is that iron sulphate and a seaweed mix? What nozzle do you use? I bought a cheaper back sprayer yesterday and have ordered a green nozzle as recommended by some other folk. Deflector type.

Yep, iron and seaweed sprayed with a Green deflector nozzle for a good heavy coverage

Do you overlap with your iron sulphate

Hi yes I always try to. Otherwise you can run the risk of an untreated strip which can be quite noticeable once its dried 😊

@@LawnRight I do the same, always overlap by about 20 - 25 % that way it's a much better coverage, always get more spray in the middle and less on the edges. In regards to leaves.. they can be a pain if the customer doesn't collect, worst thing for moss formation

@@bathams yep and dead grass. I do often clear them or.blow them off but some days I just cant when it's a full on day 😪
Have you ever stuck that stick in your foot? 😅😅 We often turn up to lawn mowing jobs in the autumn and they are covered in apples so I know how you feel

Ha ha not as yet 🤞🤞🤞. Apples are a night mare. A decent blower is fun blowing them off lawn into borders he he
Iv never used sticks, just drag your one foot, you will see where you have sprayed

I guess it's just how I learned the trade many years ago, and it's kinda stuck with me. I must admit most of the time on small lawns I dont bother
