LawnRight Lawn Care

Lawn Care Tips that work? Discover how to get a nicer Greener lawn. Hi, I'm Shaun, and I run Lawnright Ltd (a lawn care business in South Yorkshire, United Kingdom). I'm also fanatical about lawns. This channel is here to provide lawn care tips, advice and help for all lawn care enthusiasts, as well as showcase some of the work I get up to on a daily basis.

As a lawn care provider, I get to visit hundreds of lawns each month. This gives me a chance to see what's happening out there and provide solutions. It also means I get to put solutions down in videos right here.

At times, my tips may push the boundaries of what is generally accepted. However, these are given because I have tested them and produced results. As a lawn care business owner, we often have very limited windows of time to apply certain products or carry out certain procedures, so this is what has forced me to try things out during times when it is less than perfect.

Thanks for viewing my channel. Shaun

    Day 7 since scorching my yard with roundup concrete. It is starting to brown and dry out now, but a quick second spray over again. Plan is it scarify in 2-3 weeks and then get to work. Is it too late in the year to start all of this and putting together a new lawn?

    Yet another great tutorial. My lawn was looking quite similar to yours not so long ago. First of all, I'm a total novice and rely on professional lawn care experts like yourself for guidance. Unfortunately as I live in northern Ireland it is really exorbitant to order lawn care products from the mainland. Therefore, I have came up with a " tea mixture" and it has resulted in my lawn looking like a putting green ( my neighbours words, not mine) I simply apply a 50/50mix of Miracle grow ever green liquid and Doff concentrated liquid seaweed applied with a garden hose attachment. The results after applying this are amazing, my lawn is much healthier and greener looking, and the sward has got really thicker. I just wanted to let you know that there is a way to rejuvenate what might seem a lost couse without breaking the bank. Just on a note, that is a beautiful tribute to your sister my friend, I'm actually doing the same thing here for a recently lost family member. Best wishes from Northern Ireland...Billy.

    46 nitrogen and an extra 10 from the A1 Fert. Geez Shaun. You'll be cutting that hourly. Never mind every few days 😂 On a separate note. Do you ever use humic acid? It's something I apply every month.

    I get what your saying about not wanting the sunflower head eaten, I'd of felt the same until I heard about someone who was having flowers stollen from a grave side, it wasn't until their family seen it was actually a rabbit eating them and decided it was actually quite cute as if the animals and chosen to visit the plants / grave side. • @LawnRight

    Hi it's still the same process but your likely to see it looking very rough for a few weeks but it will recover with plenty of watering... You can also go gently as you said but it'll take time to get down through the layers and may need a few repeated goes of get to where you need to be

    Hello Shawn. How do you spell the name of that tool (loot?), the soil leveler. I’ve used a chain drag in the past, with limited success. The tool you’re using appears to be a much more effective tool. It’s rather like a concrete finishing float, isn’t it… Thank you

    That expensive rake looks like my £10 soil rake from The Range. I used it on my lawn and apart from the occasional chunk being ripped up it worked well for prepping for overseed.

    I have a contract with a housing association who only have 6 cuts a year! Every time I turn up the grass is longer than the last time I turned up. Anything I can do other than glyphosate fence lines or is it just the fact that 6 cuts a year is always going to look terrible. Thanks

  • @LawnRight
    @LawnRight21 сағат бұрын

    Yeah 6 cuts just isnt anywhere near enough to be fair. Unless you charged more to cover the extra time. For lush grass it needs cutting g weekly or more often but associations etc just need it cut so I dloool to see if you can either do more cuts or up the price to allow an extra hour each visit.. Or something along those lines

    Hi Shaun! Since watching your videos I've been inspried to get outside and work on my garden/lawn and I am really enjoying it so huge thanks! I recently tried scarifying for the first time about 4/5 weeks ago. I am thinking about doing a touch of reseeding in some areas of my lawn too where it's stayed quite thin in some areas after scarifying. However I have a lawn that is partially in the shade for pretty much most of the day. My lawn slopes quite a bit in areas too and especially at the bottom in the shade it gets pretty damp and extremely mossy I think quite a bit of rain collects there at the bottom of the slope. In short I have a bit of everything really, sunny spots and very shaded spots, a huge amount of moss, slopes and poor drainage in certain areas which I suspect is not helped by a thick London clay base beneath. It's making it a nightmare for me to decide what sort of seed I should buy to set things in the right direction. If you have any pointers for me and my challenges ahead with breathing new life into my lawn that'd be great! Thanks once again for the amazing videos and getting me back outdoors!

  • @LawnRight
    @LawnRight21 сағат бұрын

    Hi I'd def choose a shaded seed. There are several around to choose from. I'd wist until all this dastardly rain has gone away else it'll get wash further downhill.. Then once seeded keep damp for a month with light mistings.. I'd also def fork or aerate the lawn (or at worst, just thebits to be seeded) before seeding. Sprinkle some gypsum down as well and cover it all in a thin layer of topsoil to help keep seeds in place.. A final cover of compost can start adding some organic stuff in

    Do you think using a tine attachment at plus 2mm is any good for the lawn to cut off any longer lateral growth? It could be too aggressive for that use.

  • @LawnRight
    @LawnRightКүн бұрын

    I guess it depends how accurate each machine is. 2mm is so minimal it would only make a difference on a flat bowling green.. That's my wild assumption 🙄.. I guess all I can say is give it a go
