How To Fix Lawn Dips While Fixing Your Tired Lawn
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
How to fix lawn dips while fixing your tired lawn. A simple guide to lawn levelling.
In this video, I will be showing you how to fix all the various dips and bumps in your lawn. This is carried out during the renovation stage of creating a nice new lawn.
The dip levelling process begins at 23:45, however if you watch all the video parts you can see what order and how I carry out each part (and why).
The end result will be a lawn that looks so much better, and will be much flatter and easier to maintain.

The only thing better than learning from someone who explains as well as you, and is as clearly knowledgable as you, is getting to listen to your very charming and lovely accent. So nice to know what I've been doing right, and what I can do in addition to improve my lawn. I recently moved to the Pacific Northwest (Washington State, USA). My lawn has shady spots full of moss and sunny spots full of weeds because it was stressed by lack of water a couple of years ago. I wish I could hire you to help me out, but at least I feel like I know what to do now! Thanks so much!

I am in Washington also and am 77 and my daughter is letting me landscape and work in her yard. She hates yard work. My son mows for her but like your lawn, hers is full of clover and some tiny weeds that flower and dandelions. I need to do all of the things he just showed us but don't have any tools like he has so will have to improvise. I hope it's not too late to get started. I did see some stuff at Home Depot that is soil with seed in it that I might get to join a couple of the steps he showed us. Thank heavens her front and backyard aren't a huge lawn. I first need to find that aerator tool. Wish me luck.

the largest issue in the pacific northwest is drainage...Very very few lawns were built... they at best had top soil placed on top of what was there and added turf or seed. Lawns are built! there are many people and companies who show you how to build from baser to PGA grass or Lawn Bowling grass!

Yes absolutely small amounts work well.. Just grab a bag of topsoil once a month and work it into any dips.. But no more than a cm or so each time so you don't smother the grass.. In time you'll be adding a cm a month to build up the dips and the grass will grow longer

Yes def asap
How about a big hump! rather than dips. I have a hump around 1m2. I'm thinking I will have to remove the grass and take out soil beneath then replace the cut grass. Any thoughts?

Hi yes that's it, shav off the turf then remove soil till level then replace the turf. .. Or just shave it all off and then returf with new turf or seed
What if you turn up for renovation and lawn has a lot of weeds . Would you remove manually before scarifying?

And following this. At what point is it not worth renovating? When do you cut all of the turf off and just start again? Is the process any different?

No I make a decision a few weeks before on the best course. If there's weeds in at the time or renovating then I tell the customer it can be weedsprayed a few months later

@@LawnRight but have you ever just took the turf off of the top and started with a fresh/better grass seed for a better lawn in the future rather than work with what is there?

Hi I usually try and leave eit a long as possible but if it's ready by all means give it a cut and just go steady when turning
