    Love the video. I use 100 grams per 10 litres for just a green up, but in a few small area's it is turning some grass blades black, maybe i'm overlapping so a dye may be useful. Also sulphate iron reduces the ph, should that be a concern ? Any video's of soluble high nitrogen fertilisers and your recommended mixing rate and results. many thanks

BTW, I ordered some soil through Earthcycle following your recommendation and was very happy with it so many thanks for that mate! ; )

  • @TheLawnGuy

    @TheLawnGuy

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Allan, 3 weeks sounds about right, just lift a corner of the turf you should see lots of little white roots, periodically lift the turf to check (never the same bit) and once its rooted to the point you cant lift it, you're ready to cut. Set the mower to its highest setting and over time bring the height down never taking off more than 1/3 at a time (dont be in a rush to hack it down.) The guys who layed it should of used a pre seed fertiliser which i would expect to last 6/8 weeks after that you could think about a little autumn feed something high in potassium. and remember to keep debris off over winter (leaves) and you'll be all good.

  • @Minpeace

    @Minpeace

    5 жыл бұрын

    Mack's Lawn and Garden Care you can apply iron anytime apart from when frosts are due or in hot spells where irrigation is not undertaken . Iron will not kill weeds and it’s bi product is that it helps to kill off moss. Iron is classed as a micronutrient, its primary function is its involvement in the formation of chlorophyll hence the greening up. Always use a balanced fertiliser program along with iron. Always follow the instructions on the product but it’s always advisable to wear protective clothing ie boots, gloves, face protection.

    I use 5 grams iron per meter2 lawn area to kill moss. So say you have a lawn of 100m2 then weigh out 100x5= 500g and dissolve this in say 10L and spray over the 100 m2 The water acts as a carrier for the iron so the amount of water can vary. The main thing is to be sure that your knapsack will cover the whole area of your lawn. So do a dummy run first with water and see how far that goes. You may dissolve the iron in say 20L water if that is what it takes to cover the lawn. Hope this helps. I have only discovered this myself and I like you asked the same question but for some reason I got no answer. I find a lot of lawn care experts like to keep this secret. There is no point in having us look at long boring videos on moss controll if they are not willing to share the most important item- that is the weight of iron/m2/volume of water. DIY!
