The thing to remember is that archies had the HP advantage nearly every fight. Immunity to explosions really helped Spider Momma out though

On Ultra Violence as the Arch-viles run up the Spider Masterminds, they get hit by their own blasts doing more damage to themselves than the Spider Masterminds. There the Spider Masterminds probably mostly win by just outlasting them as they do still get stunned as much as usual.

Bizarre seeing the Spider Mastermind win in any capacity.

Just goes to show you guys that you were all wrong about the Spider Mastermind. It truly is the most dangerous and difficult enemy in all of Doom. 😱😱😱

There's a special satisfaction to watching the Spider Mastermind tank a stun attempt and utterly mow an Archvile down at close range in response.

The very first battle was a bit unfair since 10 Flame Bois are (almost) like 2 Spiderdemons (in terms of health points) With that being said it is so incredible that JUST by removing two archies Spider Momma was able to win! I got so happy for her victory that I even clapped!

Probably entirely because of how all the archies were on low health in the 10 Vs 1. 8 instead of just few enough that they started being able to be picked off

I'm so glad brutal doom made the spider mastermind actually effectual. When we see fights like this you realise just how much the guy must've been relying on his minions.

Slow execution of the Arch-vile's attacks plus explosion immunity blunting the meat of their damage output; the viles really needed to ride on stunlocking to win.

Before watching this video, I thought Spider Mastermind would be humillated again but I was wrong this time.

A sweet spidy revenge for the series of humiliation.

AV's long wind-up gave me hope. In winning the first 8:1 match, and both 6:1, Spidey did better than I expected!

Same. I thought SMM had a chance and was dismayed at the loss in the first round versus 10. I was shocked when she took down all 8 in the next. Shows how deadly that super chaingun is if she can just fire it without interruption..

Another mean burn for the Spider Mastermind. Though at least she's getting better results than normal.

I'm proud of the old girl. She won against 8 archies.

Would be nice to have a boss health bar on screen, cause I suspect every attack only does 20 damage (it's immune to the much larger explosion)

A match actually favorable for the Mastermind this time around? Though not surprising as the Mastermind's immunity to splash damage greatly cripples the Archvile's explosive attack damage unless it has sufficient numbers to make up for the disadvantage.

It's amazing how easily the archviles stunlock the spider, considering the significant windup to their attack reduces the frequency a pain state can proc. Reducing their numbers really saved the spider mastermind from being constantly interrupted.

Wow I'm surprised she managed to kill even a single Arch-Vile on the first round! Even more surprised to see her curb-stomping the later fights!

Arch-viles are, surprisingly, the least ideal combatants against the SMM. No explosive damage from their zaps and, even though they're aggressive, a very long firing sequence. The SMM's biggest hindrance is its pain chance, so I see this actually going pretty well for her.

@@ji604 Thanks! It has been a long time since I actually played the game, and I thought I remembered the Spider Mastermind being bigger. Judging by the comments, it wasn't all that strong, so I am obviously remembering wrong (or confusing it with Doom 2016). :)

Everything is to the SMM's advantage here. The AVs hit hard, but infrequently, so the SMM's high pain chance doesn't trigger so much. The SMM is immune to the blast component of the AV's attack. The relatively large size of the AV increases the damage from the SMM's shotgun spread. The AV attack being auto-target means the SMM's large size isn't a disadvantage. Even at long range the SMM's auto shotgun can hit a few AVs. The auto shotgun has a greater chance of triggering the AV's pain state, disrupting the attack. It's a great turnaround to see the worst mob doing recently against one of the best

Archvile attack consist of a direct hit of 20 dmg plus splash damage of 0-70. The SMM and cyberdemon have boss flag which gives them immunity to splash, so only direct hit inflicts the damage.

that last battle created a line of defense. that sider canon is pretty inaccurate but they bunched up[ and shot through the legion

SM actually did decently. Nice!

Arch-viles were standing too close, Spider mastermind target 1 and hit other arch-viles nearby.(normally missed shots, hit others in this scenario.) When have 2 Spider masterminds, although killing each other had been shutdown, but they can still hit by friendly fire. Arch-viles' favorite casting range, are very good for maximized dps for Spider Mastermind. At least, 1 show had involved with Spider Mastermind is NOT a comedy.

I wasn't sure whether it was gonna do well with constant archvile hits but it did better than expected. The first round was the oddest, after the 1vs8. Even at closest range the spider still misses bullets, so it takes longer for to archviles to die. Not too bad I guess

I'll take any wins for Spidey as something good, and man dat Spidey around 11:00 was really hungry to win.

Spider Masterminds kind of have an unfair advantage here, they don't take blast damage. So the Arch-viles are doing 20 damage per attack. On Ultra Violence when they rush up the Spider Mastermind(s), they even hurt themselves more with the blasts than they do the Spiders.

I was expecting it to die faster

Maybe the game shouldve had you fight 2 masterminds at once instead of just one, like how you fought 2 Barons in act 1. Cuz they dont do so well by themselves.

@@ditmarvanbelle1061 Yeah they really shouldve made mama spider tougher in a number of ways. Id say the biggest glaring problem is its pain chance. I think it should be as resistant (or more) than the cyberdemon.

Well the game came out in 1993 so the devs couldn't have possibly known things like WASD movement. SMM was probably very difficult when the game first came out.

Half it's attack wind up frames and at least it hits the player. Second, boost accuracy to actually hit what it is aiming at

weird... on low numbers, NM is more favourable for the archviles, on high numbers, NM favours the spiders.

It's not weird because in NM, the combatants are likely to fight at long range where the SMM is at its weakest due to its accuracy falling off greatly while the AV attacks are still 100% accurate. Adding more SMMs compensates for the drop in accuracy because with more SMMs attacking, it's more likely that their attacks will hit the AVs.

@@LordProteusyeah I was going to say if you don’t like comments spoiling the video then don’t read them before watching it so simple there’s a comments button you can click to look at anytime and people actually look at it before the video then they complain for their mistake? The only time I ever do that intentionally is if it’s a guide video or I actually intended to do it I actually KNEW what I was doing
