I’m interested to know what the small rectangle opening is on the right side of this washing machine I just found out that my friend has been pouring her liquid soap in the small white rectangle opening. So she said she thought it was leaking water underneath. What is the purpose of that small opening?

Most brands of washers 25 plus years ago would give the good old Speed Queen a run for it’s money. My old Kenmore finally gave up the ghost after 34 hard years 👍

I have a more recent Speed Queen (2014) and would tend to agree. They all have the baked enamel or powder coat finish instead of the old porcelain finish that they all used to have. I read an article some years ago and they pointed out that all appliances have gotten cheaper (in general build quality) because 'white goods' have lagged price increases of all other goods in the economy. A washer today is about the same price as 35-40 years ago and hasn't adjusted for inflation. I had a lower-middle of the road Whirlpool dishwasher from 1998 that gave out in 2017. I bought a new Bosch after looking around and one thing I noticed was practically none had a garbage grinder anymore (for noise they said). Also, the first thing the salesman told me after I told him about my Whirlpool was 'You'll NEVER get 20 years out of any of these. You'll be lucky if you get 10 years." And that was all of them including the premium brands. One last thing, a friend of mine bought a new Maytag in 1993 (which is a REAL Maytag made in Newton, Iowa) from a box store. It's still going strong and survived 2 of his kids doing all of their college laundry without 1 part replaced. He was going to leave it in his last house when it sold but the new owners didn't want it. Lucky him.

Honesty, my one complaint just by looks is they use that dumb single action agitator. I believe it's the GTW430 or something similar that use a dual action agitator. I don't understand why they didn't put that in this. Would've made it better. It for sure won't go head to head against speed queen but it seems ok. I own a GTW680 washer and it works very well for what it is. If they are going to advertise it as a commercial washer they should at least upgrade everything. 200$ says that suspension is exactly like the one in my gtw680, which means its going to be very flimsy. It'll hold the drum but it'll make any out of balance load or shaky pin that much more shaky and loud. Which brings me to my last point. That motor is probably the same one used in all their top load washers. Which means its going to be loud and sound on like it's on the brink of death.

GE is notorious for unbalancing, as are many washers with agitators. Just be careful when loading yr clothes, have a nice even distribution and never overload. This won't solve the problem, but it will reduce it greatly.

Not even close dude. I think the Speed Queen will run circles around that POS GE washer. I have a GE washer and I absolutely hate it. It does a lousy job at cleaning my work clothes, it doesn’t use enough water, the agitator is very wimpy, pieces of the upper plastic have disintegrated over time, and it is now making noises on spin. I’ve owned it for 7 years and I’d say it’s almost gone. I’m buying a Speed Queen when the time comes. Plus the Speed Queen is made in the USA.
