Alright, for anyone looking at this video to try to ascertain what is commercial quality about this washer.. I have done loads of research on this. GE kept saying this is "commercial grade" without really specifying what was commercial about it. So I went to an appliance parts store and looked at the exploded diagrams and part numbers, and looked what other washers those parts are used on. If you examine the parts used for this GTW525 washer, you will find most (all?) mechanical components are the same as any other GE washer. The motor is the same as all their other agitator top loaders. The drain pump is the same. The suspension system is the same. The transmission (while built of metal) is the same or nearly so - and the same cost - as the metal transmissions on the cheaper washers. The circuit boards are of the same quality and cost as any other washer - in fact I think it might be the exact same as the cheapest GE top load. In short, the only thing that appears to be legitimately commercial about this is the cabinet itself, the lid, the latches, the hinges and metal knobs. If you care about that stuff, then you do you, go for this washer. Otherwise, what you have here is basically a GTW335 with a sturdier cabinet / more solid feel and a 5 year warranty. That's a poor value for something that costs over $1000 and is supposed to compete with Speed Queen. Also this GTW525 model does not have a dual action agitator for anyone wondering. My recommendation if you want or need to go with GE is to go for a GTW465 which has dual-action agitator and otherwise all the same mechanical components and more features, and get an extended warranty for the 5 years.

excellent and helpful information for my current search for a new washer and dryer, Thank you so much! You read my mind answering these questions for us/me. The bad news is Speed queen only as 3.2 capacity-- you can't do your comforters in there. To spend over 1,000 and not be able to do your bulky items at home is disappointing , so I cant buy a speed queen- UGH

My wife and I, sick of buying a new washer every 3 years ultimately got a new top-load SQ. We have a king size bed, but for us this washer still works, because she likes to burrito roll at night and steal the covers. So for the past 15 years of our 15.5yr marriage we have used separate covers (individual blankets, no top sheet). We wash them weekly, because pets/sweat/etc. For us the inability to do a king size comforter was the one obstacle we didn’t have to worry about. The blankets and fitted sheet do all fit in a 3.2cu/ft space. Shorter cycle times than our last HE top loader (Maytag Bravos) and similar capacity when factoring that deep fill didn’t fill it all the way means that for us, the daily wash process is largely unaffected. My understanding is that SQ is still planning on releasing a larger top-load variant. I suspect the reason it’s taking so long is because of the old adage, “If you’re going to do it, do it right the first time.” Increasing capacity means more weight, more weight means more machine stress. A reason I suspect, why newer washers have so many issues compared to older ones. Just twenty years ago, it was rare to see ANYONE offer a size larger than 3.5cu/ft outside of commercial front loaders, and everyone made much more mechanically reliable machines.

Stainless being magnet or not depends on whether or not it’s ferritic. You’d certainly want it to be magnetic in cookware of it wouldn’t function on induction cooktops. It depends on its iron or its nickel content. In the case of a washtub it’s indeed best not to have either.

I have this GE washer and dryer and I am returning them to get a speed Queen tc5 and dc5. They are the same price. The max fill on the GE is about 1/3 full. The agitation is like any other HE top-load agitation, it barely moves the clothes around. The speed Queen dc5 and dr5 washers have a HE setting as well as 1/2 fill and a full drum fill setting, where the clothes are actually covered in water. There's nothing wrong with the GE dryer except it has this obnoxious buzzer that goes off twice for about 15 seconds at the end of the cycle, and there's no way to turn it off. At least speed Queen has an option to silence the buzzer or leave it on. Also the suspension system on the speed Queen washer drum Is anchored at the bottom with sock absorbers and springs. The GE is simply supported by springs from the top panel and is not as stable and the machine bounces around more with an uneven load.

I just bought this washer. GTW525ACW0WB. Has a dual action agitator. Was excited to get it but the absolute most water I could get it to fill with after spending way too much time with it was 17 gal. Where is the 26 gal they speak of? I washed a big load this morning on max fill and you could not even see water when you look down in the tub. I added 5 gallons of water manually just so my clothes would wash. This is my second GE washer in less than a week. First one had deep fill option and it would not use any more than about 8 gallons. Absolute trash and the information they put out about them is wrong. Appliance insider...I used your reviews in buying these units. Please make sure you test what you are recommending please. If you do test them....I am not sure how you are getting 26 gallons. Buyer beware!!!!!!

Be careful about that.. I've learned through painful experience that large tubs don't mean they can actually clean loads that big. I've had 5.5 and 5.2 cu ft impeller LG and GE washer (respectively) and if you fill it more than maybe 2/3rd of the way up, the cleaning ability goes WAY down. If you can't use the full tub in practice, you have maybe a 3.5 cu ft usable space in the tub, at which point, you are into Speed Queen size range.. on a speed queen you can load those suckers to the top (loosely, don't overload). Also the speed queen is much faster on their loads, so in the end the only real drawback is not being able to wash a king comforter.

This is absolutely NOT the SPEED QUEEN killer. The tub is still suspended on rods, one heavy item will send this machine banging against the sidewall. That will not happen with the speed queen and that’s just for starters. This unit will not use hot water 100% it will be mixed, this unit will use less water than the speed queen and will never give you a full tub of water even if you selected “Deep fill”. The electronics in the GE washers have proven to be not reliable where they are 100% reliable in the speed queen. The list goes on but I think the point has been made.

I’ve been going back and forth with the appliance store and GE for months. It is super sensitive to balancing, one thing gets on the wrong side and the machine goes crazy and take an hour continuing to put water in and repeatedly going out of balance until it gives up. Of course that’s not with every single load but anything heavy and that’s what it does. Even on the bulky setting which only will spin at a max of half the regular RPMs. It bangs the sides as it’s gradually picking up speed to start spinning out. Don’t buy. It’s a piece of trash. 0:28 first of all, it is called a drum, not a basket... second of all, the speed queen is 3.2 and the ge is 4.2... the ge is not almost 1 cubic foot bigger, the ge is exactly 1 cubic foot bigger than the speed queen...

But not the same build quality. Speed Queen has both a metal inner and outer drum. I'm sure GE has the metal inner rum, but the outer drum is probably plastic. Also the way the drum is supported is by rods instead heavy duty springs at the bottom that Speed Queen has.

you must have gotten the TR5 ?? which has a less aggressive agitator and the TC5 has the " Classic Clean " agitator. No complaints on the TC5

What's the point of getting a GE that has computerization? The point of Speed Queen is getting a non-computerized unit. That GE is computerized. A couple power outages and it's dead, while the speed queen will last decades. Don't act stupid, you know you're trying to sell garbage GE.

Speed queens have computers now, some of them have TWO. It will be a year before the new Speed Queen plant in Texas is up and operational, building them like they did 30 years ago.

I went to ur about page to see if you are on Instagram or anywhere else so I could message you. But, I don’t see any other info regarding that, and this was the only video I could find in order to comment to you. I would really appreciate it. Plz lmk 🙂 again, thanks for the great content.
