I left 3 years ago and Dilksy’s character just reminds me of all the great people I served with. Top guy.

same time as my dad 80-4 incl falklands 82

My Dad did 22 years in the Army ( signals ) so needless to say a large part of my youth was spent in that environment, these shows are amazing it’s like opening up a toy chest , paras , sas , intelligence etc etc , really look forward to listening to this one :)

I'm ex Green Slime (Int corps) for 6 years and after that TAVR Artists (1980s). I was a RTI instructor at JSIW Ashford and Brecon in 1983 to 1985. Interesting guy who tells great stories..... loved this film. I always enjoy your work here. Thank you. 😊

Intelligent and articulate. Great to listen to and you can tell phil is genuinely enthralled by this guest

Mate, your podcasts are absolute comedy gold. I don't think they're as funny to non military listeners, but current and ex forces can see so much that resonates in the recollections. I was howling on the train to work!! As with everything, it's not so funny when you're in and doing it, but piss yourself laughing in retrospect!! I wonder how many have the same outlook as me? I detested it sometimes when I was in, but happy to have some stories to tell in retrospect.

This was a really good episode, so much more structure and flowed really well. Good pace of story telling to

Definitely my favourite guest so far. Conversation flowed brilliantly with great humour and interesting stories. Loved this!!

Got a taste of the army as a civie kid back in 81/82 with operation Drake, in Wales & Germany with the royal tank regiment, loved the life and the experience. Still remember a PTI called Urcon, great memories. Interesting podcast, I’ll check out others. 👍

I did pre para with 9 Sqn, one of the instructors was training for selection so it wasn’t easy. Bob Mathews was on my P Coy. This has brought back some great memories.

First time I ever met this bloke he knocked me out in Excaliburs..cheers Les. Went on to be my section commander in Afghan. Top man

Cracking job Big Phil!…we went to 9 Para as sprogs from Gib barracks to build an outside training area, the food in the cookhouse was Michelin star to us, we were used to civvi contractor food…big old birds dripping sweating into the beans, government cut backs etc!!…getting fragged to fook during B3 so you would just get shit tamped and look forward to your horror bag! I worked on Kosovo doing remote sensing etc etc…those mass graves were an eye opener. Belter this mate, keep up the good work, REspect💯

What a fantastic interview. Dilksey realty opened up & told Phil about his military life. Chepstow had all trades there, it has RCT (Boat Troop) I think & also survey apprentices. Mad to think what the army does, not just fighting…

Top interview this one. Although I've not met Dilksy my brother was on 9 Sqn with him for a few years and reckons he's a legit top bloke. He cracked up when he watched him hammering lads on WDW as he says he's a proper sharp wisecracking laugh. I enjoyed this.
