PARAMEDIC PREPPER | THE DEBRIEF | Former HEMS Paramedic Armouredcockroach
Ойын-сауық
In this episode of The Debrief, former 22 SAS Trooper Big Phil Campion speaks to Armouredcockroach.
Born into a large family, and destined for a career at his fathers greengrocers, Roach decided to join the Army aged 17 and joined an infantry unit. First deployed to Gibraltar, where he first encountered members of the Special Forces, training alongside them for a hijacking response team role. Roach was unsuccessful in his attempts to pass SAS Selection, and went on to attempt 23 SAS (Reserve) Selection, before moving into the Ambulance Service. Roach was one of the first Paramedics on the streets of London, and became part of the HEMS team at Royal London Hospital. Eventually transferring to South Africa, Roach developed his trauma experience, and then lectured on his return to the UK. Roach went onto the Close Protection Circuit, and worked with clients like Sir Elton John, Saudi Royals & Russian Oligarchs. Keen on bushcraft and survival, Roach went on to launch a successful KZread channel, amassing over 3 million views and progressing onto National Geographic's Doomsday Preppers programme.

This was an excellent debrief. I’ve been following Mick for years. He’s a very good communicator and there’s always a nugget in there to takeaway. The reason why I thought this was excellent was the grace shown by Phil to let his guest speak. There were probably 50 times during the debrief where he could have jumped in and spun a quick dit. But he didn’t, he let Mick tell his story and after all that’s why we tuned in. First class. 👏

Great to see Roach about again. Followed him for years. At the tender age of 44, with no previous experience, I'm hoping to make my paramedic dream a go too!

What a fantastic guy! That Poem was really heart felt. Having that experience of Trauma Management and doing the C.P. course, made him stand out from the rest. Fantastic achievements! Thanks guys and brilliant interview by Phil. He keeps it going, gets to the nitty gritty and explains things really well that others may not understand.

Great interview Phil, very interesting guy with a lot of different experiences. The south african one was quite extreme. Someone who who moved to SA in the late 70s told stories like that. When he came back to visit us around 5 years or do after he'd moved, he sounded like a completely different person ( not for the better) but it ain't all roses out there. Atb Phil 👍
Watched again because I didn't listen the first time huge respect
