I think Sparkle Dogs have the potential to be used as a learning curve for young artists to experiment with colour theory until they find something that works for their OCs. I used to draw very colourful OCs when I was younger and overtime as I looked up colour theory and using my favourite fictional characters as my inspiration made me improve my designs.

Color scheme and or theory is surprising a ton more important than given credit for. Glad you mentioned this as messing with certain colors can guarantee a more unique fursona and such. For my fursona Fido, I wanted a blue husky but didn’t want to do the white contrast, so I did orange and still love it on looks

Another good video and am I the only one that noticed the Bojack Horseman reference? I love that show. TBH, I’m cool with sparkledogs. Most are really cute especially as fursuits anyway. And even if I hate them for some reason, I am not the one judge because if they are happy to be one, so be it.

@KYLE MORROW thanks. I'm not a type of guy that hates other furries because of the species they choose to be and those that do are just allegedly elitist duchess. One of the reasons I love the furry fandom is that you can be who you want to be and not judged just for your interest and your opinions. I thought furries can design there own characters the way they want and you can also change the appearance of your fursona even in scenarios importantly if you want a fursuit of your sparkledog made. And not only sparkledogs are bullied because they are "cringy" but I see some other speices are being judged as such like sadly Dutch Angle Dragons.

The thing is that there are people who want to transform the world so that it is all aesthetic, forcing anyone, and more artists than making closed species increase the cases of people who only make simple fursonas, aesthetic and empty in essence, which only forces you to draw them in a different way. a "nice and cute" shape but nothing more. Even those types of people who pose as "character designers" take advantage to also "want to fix your fursona and give their opinion on it" those same ones are the ones who say the typical phrase "dogs or X animal cannot have those colors so saturated and colorful because they are not found in nature" or do you see that they are all a vintage yellowish tone with faint colors? honestly there are no arguments XD

Im so happy you pointed out how "unrealistic and overcolored" some real animals can be. People always hate on sparkle animals for being ridiculous looking but have yall not seen real life animals?? Sparkle dogs are valid

i’m not even a furry, but god i love sparkledogs. they’re just so bold, and looking at their wild designs + colours helped me try to branch out with my own art :^)

Emo culture didn't die out, there was just a constant battle going on between the two subcultures. I personally like both. Sparkledogs, in my opinion, are pretty damn cool.

6:57 actually sucker punched me with nostalgia, not the drawing itself but the colors. Because it dead up reminds me of those old Lisa Frank folders and binders I used to have as a kid - I loved crazy colors then and honestly now realizing that, I feel more accepting of the wild colors. It's oddly comforting in it's familiarity.

Most people who make sparkle dogs are young kids and honestly I think it’s cute! They’re having fun making their characters which is what art is all about

I have been hit with a wave of sadness so I will make a edgy neon dog with glitter and nobody can stop me

Oh my god I'm so happy someone addressed this! To be honest, I just think people should make what they wanna make! You don't see others making fun of you for your standards canine fursona, So please, please, PLEASE don't make fun of others fursonas! Imagine you make a fursona you love, it represents you perfectly, you love the design, and it's just amazing!! But all of a sudden, someone comes along and starts bashing your fursona. Anti furries are not as wide spread or damaging as they seem to think, it's mostly edgy teenagers who either loose interest and stop or flip sides entirely and become furries themselves, one could argue that anyone older than that that still dislikes them without any genuine reason is probably not that mature anyway

What makes me laugh is if they take the time to post hate on furry KZread or IG accounts, their browser starts to think they are a furry and fills their feed with furry stuff.

Aaah I honestly just LOVE the sparkly characters! Although I personally think that there aren't enough sparkle-aliens out there lol A lot of my characters are brightly coloured, weird, fluffy aliens! They're so much fun, since they don't have to many ANY sense, and can be as weird and bright as you like.

4:40 I do reference sheets very often, and god you put the feeling into words so well! I’ve had people’s designs make me physically ill (I’m pretty sensitive to some color palettes) but I still enjoy making their characters because they can find joy in something that I don’t. I think it’s really cool and we should absolutely respect different people’s tastes!!

This was a really nice video. I was just feeling stressed about how I should redesign my main OC, but being reminded that OC design can be personal really made me feel more comfortable with the designs I wanted.

I adore sparkle dogs and every unnaturally coloured sona owns my heart, and while I prefer to have more natural or toned down colours for my sonas, Sparkle Dogs are still boss as heck!

I like things that are gentle to the eye my eyes are so sensitive that i get a migraine if i get exposed to "too much light" to the point that I've gotten the ability to see in the dark a bit

I used to have a really bright Fursona, but I toned him down to the point where’s he’s exclusively blues and bluish-greys

Sparkledogs(and other sparkle critters) are Iconic and I love them.

I got told my Dutch Angel dragon furry head was rubbish but I kept going! Pocari you inspired me thank you 😊

I just recently became a sparkledog owner, I made my sparkledog originally as a meme and for giggles and fun time, But I honestly thing he looks pretty epic. My childhood was all nightcore and rainbow dogs with punky scene hair and legwarmers so that's pretty nostalgic.

I *_love_* characters with eye bleeding colors, and I'm not even sure why! I especially love black and rainbow Sparkle-creatures :)

I made my own sparkle dog and it turned out pretty cool

I have a sparkle dog OC called Saturn. She's quite mild compared to most, she's aqua, white, green, purple and pink and has a bunch of piercings and space-themed tattoos. I haven't always liked sparkle dogs, but I've grown to like them over the past few months, especially after making Saturn and discovering elkdragon's suits
