I was so entranced by the moss I almost didn't notice you were hitting us with the wombo combo spanish moss + grave yard a real southern treat :)

My favorite combo is a live oak with Spanish moss on it wonderful look at to me being raised in the south.

I live in Florida, I'm from Minnesota. This moss creeps me out it scary and on everything even power lines. When it gets wet it gets heavy it snaps off large branches.

It's a air plant that gets water from the air. I live in the Sunshine State and it's all over.

In Spanish moss live oak is one of my favorite sites to see I'm in the Pacific Northwest now and it's beautiful but yeah I miss home

How does it get up into the tree in the first place? And why does it grow on some kinds of trees, but not all?

Basically it's like a dandelion with its seeds I believe and I think some trees have bark that's not suitable for the plant typically it grows on hardwood trees

So what does elevation have to do with its growth, cause I live in eastern NC where it’s stupidly humid and Spanish moss only grows once you get really close to the beach

It may be due more to the species that grow at certain elevations. Spanish moss does show a preference for some low-elevation species such as Live Oak and Bald Cypress because of the high amount of minerals that is leached from their leaves.
