This is one of those examples of genuinely good reference humor, because IMHO it works even if you don't get it -- like a lot of us did, seeing Spaceballs when we were too young for Alien. Even without getting what he was referencing, I took "Oh God, not again" combined with the waitress' reaction as an implication that this an effed-up universe where this sort of thing just happens, and that was amusing to me.

This scene is what made me want to watch Alien. 13 year old me ran to my mom practically begging her to let me get the DVD in the local game stop. (I mistakenly thought that if I can handle this spoof scene then I can handle the original film) Bought the DVD and spent that night from the opening titles to end credits hidden behind a couch cushion. To this day I regret nothing. The fact John Hurt came back just to film this short cameo scene is nothing short of perfection. I remember reading in a booklet that came with my copy of Spaceballs that John Hurt said the fake chest for this film was much more comfortable than the one used in the original Alien.

Actually, I was once in the same pair of shoes back in 1988. However, I not only saw Spaceballs on my own first official terms two years later in 1990, but I also saw Alien for the first ever time as well. Despite that milestone in my life, the Alien movie was on what used to be the ABC Sunday Night Movie recorded on VHS via VCR at my High School alma mater, and I watched it with my other friends. Hence the first ever day I fell in love with the Alien franchise. I am, rest assured, a foremost fan of science fiction.

Spaceballs, released in theatres in 1987, on VHS in 1988. All happened in the last years of the Iron Curtain. VHS players were slowly coming into my country from the West, and pirate dubbed pirate copies of Hollywood movies ended up in households way before they might've appear in theatres. So we've seen Spaceballs and the "pirated copy" scene - through a pirated copy.
