I have the Romulan BoP re-engineered kit from Polar Lights and it’s great. I cut out new impulse engines (used Tie fighter wing grills as texture inside, and added cutaways in the lower hull with greeblies in, still painting it but this made me want to go get this and attempt to visualise what it would look like decades after the tribble infestation.

This has good kit bashing possibilities. 1 or more kits of this can be combined into various configurations. A modeler can make TOS versions of Jupiter Station, Earth Spacedock, Regula I and the Stations seen at Utopia Planitia during VOY: Relativity.

This would be a fun one to light up!

I believe the back panel of the model depicts how the space station looked in the DS9 episode "Trials & Tribbleations."

You are right. You can just see the top of the large drum-like structure that hangs from the rim of the main saucer. The AMT kit has a flat surface there instead. The drum is missing.

I agree the kit is inaccurate. It does lends itself to lighting well. I think the tiny Enterprise that comes with it may be trying to convey perspective and distance. Not actual scale. Lit up on a rotating stand it looks good.

No matter the scale I like what you have done with it.

Forgot where I read it, but the station is supposed to be in scale with (or close to) the 1/1000 scale ships. Like stated in the video, the shuttle bay and station hanger are a good comparison.

The builder of the original K7 used parts from a Mars Colony model he'd built for another project.

Really wish Round 2 would have upgraded this the same way they did the shuttlecraft.

Agreed. They'd have to mold practically a whole new kit. The saucers should be rounded with sliding leaves. The domes should be more conehead shaped. The drum on the rim needs to be added like we saw in the remastered episode. The lower shuttle bay and pylons look fine though.

I did see after market aztec decals for this model but at almost the same price as the kit. I may attempt my own.

I have this kit from the prior AMT release. It's so inaccurate I have been putting off building it for a long time. Don't know if I have the energy anymore for all the work it would take to accurize it. Very nice video. Question about the domes. Might it be the domes were made of transparent aluminum and were more like cathedral windows to let light into the center of each saucer? They might have open space with parks and trees under the domes. If so it would mean the station was much larger than you are postulating at 1/1000 scale. Just a thought.

I built this model back in the late seventies and I honestly do not remember a small Enterprise being included with the model

My son got me one of these for Christmas dont know if it's the newer or older version. The Enterprise and Dt from the Enterprise incident may be closer in scale

So is the station closer to 1/2500 scale?

Nice job...but I would have worked on eliminating the seams.

When I built this kit, I took liberties with painting as well, to make it more fun, even though it was not accurate to the show. I put a lot of time into the seams, but my limited skills they were still there. Probably should have just lived with it, as it is an older kit mold, and just part of the history of this kit.

Looks like the 1:2500 Enterprise would be closer to scale based on the original ToS shots. Looks good. One suggestion when pre-shading with a .3mm needle you can remove the crown cap and get narrower lines for your preshading.

I am thinking the space station would scale well with the old AMT Star Trek Space Ship Set (first released in 1975 and last released in 1989). It comes with the Enterprise, D7 Klingon Battle Cruiser and the Romulan Ship, all in 1:1600 scale. Maybe Round 2 can re-release that kit soon.

K& is such a cheezy, poor model. But I love it. And the space station is WAY bigger than you estimated.
