I prefer you commentating, It's really something that makes me come back to your channel and videos. Your content is much more entertaining and different than other racing content creators. Maybe create a second channel where you upload raw racing videos without commentating?

Commentary is essential imo, it is what makes the content most unique. Just look at what Super GT is doing - the pull for his videos is not just the driving, it's the commentary and delivery of said commentary.

I love this race! I think commentary is great because we get to know where you're at mentally in the race, what you're focusing on, etc.

For me listening to you commentate the race/lap helps me understand the nitty gritty of what’s going on. As someone whose been in your coaching lobbies, listening to someone who has way more experience and understanding of racing will help me understand much better what I need to do. Also I’ve learned that scrubbing tires isn’t much of a thing, but if you hold the breaks while scrubbing, you’ll scrub the tires better and get heat into your breaks! I only recently learned this! As always enjoy the content :)

I definitely prefer your commentary over just the raw footage. It’s almost like how I enjoy watching f1, but hearing Crofty and Brundle’s commentary make it that much enjoyable. It adds a level of entertainment that most other creators aren’t able to replicate nearly as well as you’ve done it yourself.

Crofty is an annoying little swot. Brindle's definitely stepped up a gear the last couple of years with the technical analysis.

I love this format. Commentary leading into the race and than focus on the racing part.

Its win win either way for me. Your commentary and driving whether combined or separated are exemplary. Top racing.

Defo better with commentary. Its like when you watch F1 on a Sunday. The commentator describes what's going on, how many laps until next pit stop, problems with understeer etc. It all adds to the emersion and excitement.

Honestly love it either way, fun ass race to watch man!

in my opinion i prefer with you commentating. I really like watching your videos while studying, and with the commentary and dont need to be seeing to understand what is happening. You could do 50/50 in terms of talking and no talking

You should try this in rFactor 2. I think you'll be blown away if all you've driven is F1 22 and iRacing. There's a few F3 cars included by s397 (including the UK MSV one) and the tracks are reasonably priced.

USF 2000 is part of the Indycar feeder series, comparable with F3 yes. Indy Pro is the last step to get into Indycar like F2. I also more like the commentary from you during races, really entertaining as always! GG btw 😊

Indy Pro isn't the last step, Indy Lights (now called Indy NXT) is.

F4 is closest to usf Indy pro to f3 and Indy lights to f2.

i like a lap or two of commentary as a foreshadow of what's to come. i think a mixture of both the styles you've done is great as i enjoy both. i am new to posting iracing content and i haven't figured out how i want to do it. either recording myself during the race or adding my commentary after the fact. this is of course not including streaming, which i am set up for and may do...

JD, awesome to see you on iRacing. You were one of the guys whose videos got me into simracing at the start of the pandemic but since I don't drive the F1 games anymore, I kind of lost your content for a while...This was nice, but I like having the commentary. Doesn't have to be constant, but what you were thinking in situations is nice. Sidebar, I see a familiar name in that lobby. You MUST have voice chat toggled off because we couldn't get the guy to shut up in F4 last season. Was nice to see him tumble off the leaderboard.

The USF2000 is actually a type of Indy Car. I personally love to drive the USF2000 and the F3 and F4 in iRacing and i have played it for a long time

Absolutely loving this iRacing content coming from F1. Commentary is great and love the educational aspects, but sometimes it's a little more intense without commentary.

Hell of a race. Right where you needed to be on the last lap. Came down to the last Chicane. Seems you went just a little too deep to get a good run out. But other than that. Brilliant!

I enjoy hearing your thoughts about the race. Maybe combine both ideas. Show the entire race but only talk when you feel there is something talk about.

How do you like the moza setup?

If you haven't yet downloaded crew chief it is essential for iRacing. It'll be used as a spotter, will auto fuel for you and give you lots of great lap time info for you and other drivers.

A suggestion.. you can upload full races with your commentary as usual.. on top of that upload another video with highlights from the same race but no commentary.. or the other way around ofc.. This will give you 2 videos for the same race as well as satisfy those who don't prefer commentary.. I do prefer the commentary though..😀 love iRacing btw..

JD your commentating sets you apart from other sim racers. If I wanted dialogue every now and then I watch Dave Cam. If I want great play by play, for instance "and we go DOWN THE INSIDE!". I go to Mr. Limitless.

Awesome racing but honestly I love it when you commentate. Gives more context, emotions, the lot. No harrm in experimenting though, we totally understand that. If it's easier, you could try to commentate while you race like Tom97 does.

When u buy iRacing. Are the formula classes available from the start or do you have to unlock these along the way? Anyone can answer this please 🙏

Only certain ones such as Formula Vee. When you start going through the licences you'll then get access to F4 and F3 etc

I prefer commentary videos. That was entertaining to say the least though! That car/track combo makes for some great racing.

I like your videos because you are commenting it, I feel all the emotions you have at that moment, you give all the energy to be enjoyable, without you commenting it its more like wathing an onboard camera and i think thats not the essence of your channel

I don't mine you commentating. Actually good to have your feedback and insight to the thinking process during the race. Can I ask as I haven't driven iracing yet. Do you get a realistic sense of overheating from the engine if you are sat behind following a car for long periods of time?

Haven't really felt the engine overheat when sitting behind, but definitely if you downshift too fast at times

When I see iRacing version of Spa, I instantly remember "grass dipping" fiasco. Funny as hell, but also sad. If you like the feeling of connectedness to the car in iRacing, dude, you GOTTA try RFactor 2. There are a lot of amazing cars on that platformm, but the open wheelers are unparalleled, and it's honestly hard for me to go back to other sims. And I don't have a proper DD wheel like you, with a DD wheel RFactor 2 feels so incredible and communicative, there really is nothing like it

Commentary adds to the videos, not the opposite :)

For me, the content I enjoy most are the summary videos of your league races, when you commentate over races which have a bigger meaning (than just open lobbies for example). As you don't race in leagues at the moment unfortunately due to the state of the F1 game, I would prefer to see you commentate at least over nice iRacing races like this one. Also, where you really commentate the race and not do another criticising videos, cause those have been plenty (even if justified), but I just like to see you race and commentate over it.
