Can A Modern Formula 1 Actually Beat the V10s?

Ойындар

Last time we asked how long it would take Max Verstappen's RB16 to lap everything out there. This time we ask: how well does Lando Norris' McLaren MC35 fare against almost every era of classic F1 car? Once again, we take to Assetto Corsa to find out.

I think the main reason the V10 cars are faster on the straights is because... since the hybrid cars gained a huge Downforce gain in 2017, it caused ALOT of drag, and drag decreases top speed, however the V10s ran on a lower downforce setup, therefore less drag, so they had a higher top speed

In truth as we see with the track records that go down each year. In real life with similar tires the results would probably be the more recent the farther up the grid you would be. It’s not only about the engine, even though it makes a difference it’s not all. And with the changes to smaller engines aerodynamics solutions were implemented that completely changed the landscape year by year. Of course there would be black swan situations. But as a rule of thumb.

With slick tires they would have gone seconds faster. And in race mode as refuelling was allowed, they were absolute sprint machine lapping 5 to 6 seconds faster than modern cars. Alonso, Button, Schumacher, Barrichello etc looked completely destroyed at the end of races. It was another time, different context, different issues but it was nice 😎🙌🏻

You have to take into account they were faster in straights and the cars were way smaller and lighter. Tires were better too, since it was a performance competition between bridgestone and michelin, not degradation management for entertainment. @@magnusVarblomst The groved tires were miles slower than modern slicks.. did you ever watch the demo of Alonso driving his championship car on them? It was a missile in comparison to what it was back then. Also, the Spanish GP isn’t a good argument because the 2023 qualifying times were much faster than the 2005 lap times. Not really sure what your point is? Sure they’re slightly faster in a straight line, but miles off in the high speed. They’re not going to be faster on many, is any circuits. they are using grooved tires “makes you wonder how fast they are on slick tires“ - this is VERY easy to find out, in content manager chose the car and hit “replace tires“ and you can fit anything on any car! Please make a video with mid 2000 f1 cars on slik tires and also put that record breaking endurance porsche in it! (And put one ai with your car in the grid so we can see how far off the ai pace frim a human is, I think if humans drove on that race in alonsis and kimis car tgey would be a lot quicker but its hard to tell by how much if you dont have an ai competing with your car)
