ZIS-5 - Soviet medium-duty truck with a payload capacity of 3 tons; the second largest (after GAZ-AA) truck of the 1930s and 40s, one of the main transport vehicles of the Red Army during the Great Patriotic War.
Produced from 1933 to 1948 at the Automobile Plant named after IV Stalin. During the war and after it, a simplified military modification of the ZIS-5V (conditional designation) was produced by the ZIS (1942-1946), UlZIS (1942-1944) and UralZIS (1944-1955) factories. In 1934-1948, only at the Moscow ZIS, 571,199 ZIS-5 vehicles with modifications were produced, plus in 1947-1948, 13,896 units of the ZIS-50 transitional to the ZIS-150 model.
