Southern Style Okra w/ Stewed Tomatoes & Corn! How to Cook Okra the Easy Way!
Hey Y'all! Let's cook some good ol'e okra with fresh garden veggies! This is the best way to enjoy okra in my opinion. I even like it more than fried okra. I cook okra like this regularly during the summer, especially when my garden is in full swing.
Pair this with one of my cornbread recipes for some good eating!

Well to my surprise he ate the whole pot minus a bowl worth!!! I couldn't believe it!!! He loved it!!! Actually I am making another pot today a week later. I also made your neck bone recipe yesterday. He loved that also!!! Thanks so much sis!!

My granny used to make this every summer and it was one of my favorite summer meals
Cooked this dish on last evening (vegetarian style) after receiving a bag of home grown okra. The dish is delightful. Thank you for sharing your recipe.
Thank you mines came out delicious it looks exactly like same .. you did very well explaining step by step👍🏾
My mom made okra soup this way back in the 60s and 70s. Okra soup with cornbread. Awesome fall and winter rib sticker. But excellent anytime, of course.
I made this for dinner. One of my old favs. I had some grilled corn on the cob, so I added it for the flavor. Man! It was good. Believe it or not garlic bread is also good with okra gumbo.
My wife grew some okra this summer. After watching this, all I can say is there is about to be some nummm nummm 🤠👍
I used this recipe and tweaked it to be plant-based, and when I discovered my okra was bad- subbed in zucchini for okra, coconut milk for water, ghee for butter, no bacon and no bullion needed-THIS DISH WAS FYRE 🔥🔥🔥 Thank you for sharing 👐🏾
Wow. I'm with a community garden where we grow lots (hundreds of pounds) of the best tasting okra. I have to try your recipe, though I mostly eat young okra pods (
I like to sometimes add cooked smoked beef sausage. I sautee the sausage a little with a Browning on the sausage. Never thought about adding cooked bacon. Will do this
I would love bowl of this and cornbread. Deliciously!

My favorite way to have this is with cornbread too! I could eat this and cornbread as a small meal all by itself. Check out one of the cornbread recipes on my channel linked in the description box.
I tried your recipe with small alteration, no bacon or corn and substituted used chicken bouillon cube and water instead of chicken broth. It tasted 😋 delicious. My mother and I loved it with cornbread. The best okra gumbo i have made so far. Thank you for sharing. ❤❤❤❤
Just cane across your channel. My grandmother use to make this same dish. Thank you so much for the recipe. Headed to the store this morning for my ingredients.
Beautiful. I 😍 it! So healthy and good.
When cutting your corn, it's best to use a thin small knife and start from the end of the corn down to the tip. But this okra looks delicious
Looking good, Miss Camirra!! Thank you, have a blessed day.
Thank you for this. Got some fresh corn , tomatoes and okra from the guy down the street and made it tonight. I used Maggie chicken bouillon from the international section at the grocery store. Turned out amazing. Other recipes are too complicated. Yours was simple and perfect.
Temu has a great little gadget to remove fresh corn off the cob. It works great, and it's not expensive 😊
I love your home cookin’. Thank you for sharing your videos.

If u have a Bundt pan, when u shuck the corn, leave some stem and place it in the center .Cut with tip of knife.
Mmmmmm.... Looks Awesome!
I am trying this.
Exactly the recipe I hoped to find, thanks! I loved you little addendum about the Jiffy cornbread 'cuz that pantry staple is milled not many miles from our home. 🙂 I've loved the canned item that's sort of this combination of veges and I really like using it as-is or with smoked sausage as a main dish. I figured lots of folks must have their homemade version!

This looks soooo good. This vid has been popping up in my recommendations for abt a year now. I was reluctant because of the okra despite how delicious it appeared. Reluctance is over. I just have to try it. I'm definitely cooking this.

cut the cob in half and cut the kernels off that way. put the cut side on your cutting board and cut down. i hope that helps if no one has pointed out that technique to you. thank you for making this video. a friend gave me a mess of okra and i did not know what to do with it.

its very tasty!
Use a fork to separate the corn from the cob. Stick the points under the corn and push it down the cob. My grandmother could pry the kernels off quicker than you could hand a new piece of corn.
Agree fresh corn or don't bother. Cook beef shanks until tender first. I hold off adding tomatoes for a few minutes of cooking or so. Add them last so the don't cook apart so much.
I use a round blade knife to keep my Cobb from being cut
I hated okra because it was slimy, and my mom use to make this getting everything from the garden. We had no meat with it but cornbread. This was every year when I was small to teenager. She no longer had a garden, but I knew she would buy it the store. I was old enough to work and I ate out. I made it with the one okra on top sometimes in cheesecloth. My husband was a meat eater bless his heart so was my dad. I hated to see that garden started every year the though of that okra just turned my stomach. Mine was good for a quick change in the winter in California.
Get a V slicer or mandolin to deniblet a cob.
Put a cup upside down in a bowl. Place corn cob on cup and cut down. All the corn goes in the bowl.
AWESOME SISTREN… serving this with lobster, but adding sausage to this okra, just for the gumbo effect.

HAHAHA! I feel like folks either love or hate okra. I actually used to not like it, but when I went to Ghana I had it couple different ways and started to like it. The way I made it it isn't slimey, but there is certainly a thin line between non slimey and slimey okra.

I don't see why not. the water is continuously flowing so if anything gets on the ones below it will also wash off. plus i tend to do a general overall rinse of the basket when im all finished to make sure all is clean.
