I was a Boy Scout. There are always more than one adult present at meetings. Youth protection is first and foremost in Scouting. Also, there are no Boy Scout cookies. That's just Girl Scouts. By the way, since this episode came out, they now allow gays in Boy Scouts as well as girls.

One of the areas the South Park team has really broken new ground is their representation of disabled people. They basically allow them full autonomy to be their own individuals with all the same talents and flaws of anyone. You should peek at How's Your News - the creators of South Park helped fund/produce some developmentally disabled reporters TV show and it's both hilarious and awesome.

IIRC, this episode was the original introduction for Jimmy, which is why Timmy isn't on board with him (yet, they become best friends later). also, IF i didn't know the scout leader, i might be hesitant, but i know Big Gay Al so i would be totally okay with him being a scout leader because i know he is responsible and respectful of other people.

Sure, I'd be worried about my kids picking up weird habits, and him wearing that uniform button-up like a Deep V-neck wouldn't help things; but Al's easily the most trustable person in South Park. I'd rather a big teddy bear like him look after my kids over a kiddie toucher. Especially with that speech about freedoms at the end; he's an alright guy.

This is what makes South Park better than Family Guy (tho I love that too.) They address real issues by making fun of them. People still believe gay people are child molesters (or groomers) and didn't allow gays in the boy scouts. Then they found out the Boy Scouts had an issue with kids being sexually abused. Not only was it the same as the Catholic Church, the Church actually worked TOGETHER with the Boy Scouts, and even the US military to abuse boys. It's always projection...

Which is why you don’t allow one lone chaperone to oversee a field trip or retreat. The more eyes you have watching, the less likely a predator will attempt to strike. Similar principle to having multiple sheepdogs guarding a flock against wolves.
