I mean, there isn't an infinite amount of how plotpoints can be stichted together. So it makes sense that being really original is going to get harder. You can only do a spin on it, like adding semen, seaciety, a dead teacher and so on. But i doubt someone will one-up the idea any further.

Tell me about it - as an up and coming content creator (some of you might have seen me going on about the _Adele_ comic I'm working on), I get frustrated about my ideas being used in other IPs all the time, particularly when it comes to my characters looking like other characters. In particular, there's a recent cartoon called _The Ghost and Molly McGee_ that has used a lot of ideas similar to what I'm planning to do in my _Adele_ comic, such as the Jewish best friend and a more positive dive into Jewish culture, more positive autistic representation, cultural representation, and even an episode about periods where one of the girls feels left out for not getting hers like her friends. But again, it's *how* the ideas are executed that makes them stand out. For example, in my comic, the *protagonist* is autistic, as are her best friends, whereas with _TGaMM_ it's just the main character's crush's sister who's autistic. And also, I'd been planning on doing a period episode even before _Turning Red_ was out, in my case being inspired by the _Braceface_ period episode, and until the release of _Turning Red_ I just assumed it was normal for girl shows to do so, and I just watched the girl shows that tried to also appeal to boys (e.g. _Daria,_ _Kim Possible_ and the like) and that that's why I wasn't exposed to period episodes. Plus, I have some ideas for my period episode that *hadn't* been done in _Braceface,_ _Turning Red_ *or* _Molly McGee,_ such as having my main character already know about periods beforehand, but still freaking out because she thought she'd get it later, since she read about them in an anatomy book, and also wondering why she's not allowed to discuss it with boys (my MC's kind of an MRA, sticking up for boys wherever she can). All this to say... just do whatever ideas come naturally to you, and if you still picture it being too similar to other shows or movies, just do it how *you* would do it, and try to make it different enough that it's its own thing.

Someone well smarter than I once pointed out to me that there's really only six stories, though the characters and settings can change from one telling to the next. I remember The Road Trip (Homer's Odyssey) and The Star-Crossed Lovers (Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet) for example.

When they mention the Snowman who came to life and tried to kill people, they’re talking about The Spirit of Christmas. It was a couple holiday cartoons made by Matt and Trey that eventually became South Park.

Yep, the South Park and Simpsons teams respect each other... they pretty frequently put references to each other in their shows, and it's clear there's a mutual appreciation bro-ship, especially as both shows are well matured at this point. BIG difference from how South Park approaches Family Guy.

This is my all time favorite episode and I've watched and rewatched all 26 seasons so far, not to mention the paramount specials. I put this one up just because I remember watching it with my older brother and my grandma. I'll never forget how hard my grandma laughed about cartmans "hose" story. That memory after 21 years still makes me smile

@@nykcarnsew2238 With that said, the cherry situation is eerily similar to the story of how _The Simpsons_ boy band episode aired *while* Matt and Trey were making their own boy band episode, so I'm guessing it was based on that.

I think the mention of a living snowman is an homage to the character Frosty who was in a pre-South Park short named Jesus vs. Frosty. A prototype of the boys accidentally brought a snowman to life with a magic hat, parodying Frosty the Snowman. Instead of being kind, the snowman is evil and murders Cartman, the only character with a name at the time. After seeing the Jesus vs. Frosty short, a Fox executive hired Matt and Trey to make another animated short as a video Christmas card that he could send to friends and Jesus vs Frosty became The Spirit of Christmas Jesus vs Santa. After the video was passed around on bootlegs and the Internet, the film caught the attention of cable network Comedy Central thus leading to the birth of South Park. Frosty has never appeared in any actual South Park episode to the best of my knowledge. Both shorts can be found on multiple sites including youtube if you wish to view them.

I never fell for stuff like the sea people, but i still remember being a kid falling for stupid advertising just to buy stupid things. I buy a lot of toys for my cousin we are pretty close and god damn modern toys are fire. They are so fire that i started buying lego star wars for way to much money but its really cool even as a grown man🤣😂

Chef definitely doesn't ONLY sing. He basically gives the students great advice for any kind of crazy questions that they don't wanna ask their Parents.. So anytime they have a question about some adult type sh1t or anything wild, the first person they go to is Chef

Butters trying out Simpsons plans already done was a real problem the South park producers went through.

Chef said "Drinking some brine shrimp can't kill you" but it did sound like he said dicking.

I love the Simpsons, and seeing events play out like they did in the Simpsons was hilarious to me.

The snowman attack, it was the very first project they did

6:30 this is one of the most brilliant plots because... the kids really didnt do anything 'wrong', except what cartman did in that alley. The Prank wouldnt have killed anyone but the sea monkies, but because everything is Chaos in south park all this stuff lines up. My favorite is chef. New identities and life on the road, no questions asked. That's a person you can trust!

South Park doesn't have beef with Simpsons, but they do have beef with Family Guy. I recommend watching Cartoon Wars parts 1 and 2.

Butter's Sun Blocker wouldn't work because the Sun moves throughout the day; Mr. Burns was smart enough to make his one able to move.

Man, i love episodes like these. Just shows that kids are, at the end of the day, just kids. I remember getting one of these kid cameras that would show photos of important memorials around the world. I thought it was an *actual* camera that would make real photos. On the same day, my dad took my mom and me with his job in the woods at a restaurant. It was snowy and our car got stuck, thats when i found out it wasnt a real camera. Wanted to cry so badly :')

That is what they are referring to when they say it only happened once. Also in The Spirit of Christmas Kenny is Cartman and Cartman is Kenny. They changed their names and Kenny/Cartman does die in that episode. Search Spirit of Christmas

The snowman is a reference to the original cartoon "Jesus vs. Frosty" that Matt and Trey did back when they where film students, it was the OG beginning of South Park.

You need to watch Proper Condom Use. That’s the one where Mr.Mackey and Ms.Choksondik hook up.

Ms. Choksondik's death last episode was a preview for this episode. It was a subversion joke last time, where they acted like you'd have to watch to find out, but then they just spoil the plot twist immediately. Her death was never really explained either. Though it's theorized that her drinking the Sea People combined with Mr. Mackey's semen in her stomach, creating a Sea Ciety inside her. Which, blew themselves like Cartman's did, killing her.

This was Ms. Crabtree's last speaking role until she was murdered and killed off in Season 8.

Before South Park Matt and tray made an animation card Jesus vs frosty, it was before the characters even had names and before Jesus vs Santa Cartman was called Kenny in this, but they put the head on the snowman and came to life and tried to kill them and in the process killed Kenny and cartmam Kenny , you should check it out

In reference to the snowman joke, one of the very first things Matt and Trey did was called "The Spirit of Christmas." It was a very short video that they made when they were in college. Completely by hand with nothing but construction paper and is considered to be one of the original viral videos of all time. You should really check it out along with "Jesus Vs. Santa," their follow up, both released before South Park started airing, just to see how far they have come.

This episode is above average, I get it, but the only great line I think is Cartmna's closer, the tired "lets get this show over with", "why can't societies just live in peace?" with the uncaring faux-caring inflection so they can hit credits in time.

Nah, Matt and trey have a lot of respect for the simpsons. “Every year we get nominated for an Emmy and almost every year we lose to the Simpsons… like we should” (and he wasn’t being shitty about it, he was unironically praising them). Family guy in the other hand… even in interviews and stuff they go in on that show. They hate it.

Oh this episode is hilarious, I also recommend you watch The Post Covid specials from Paramount Plus, they're the best of South Park.

5:30 kid needs to use his imagination. I have a tank full of self cloning crawfish, Mosquito fish, snails, scuds, and other microscopic life... I watch them all fight to the death for my amusement every time I add plenty of food for everyone. My favorites are the baby mosquito fish... I'm planting some real plants for them in an anti-crawfish cage. They're like grains of rice that can dart 6 inches 3-4 times before you can blink.
