My husband loved Puff the Magic Dragon, all the guys did. The name changed to Spooky, one other, I've forgotten, and the Angel of Death. There were several names. He said they were so glad when Spooky showed up because she saved their butts too many times to count. I do remember my husband hearing the name he had never used which was the Angel of Death, during the sand pile. He didn't remember that from Vietnam. Bless their little killin' hearts. I'm just glad Vietnam was his war and not Afghanistan.

This is about 6 months old. AFSOC intends to remove the 105 and replace it with either small cruise missiles, or forego the DS mission entirely and be more of a network hub for lack of a better term. There were experiments with HEL, but SURPRISE found it attenuates with distance and atmospheric/grounds conditions.

Dad, returning from Vietnam had a large shell casing which he beat into a proper brass vase.

The large munitions that are fired off in the US are fired off at military bases, so not many used shells reach people's homes.

I worked a McDonald's in 06 to 2008. The weapon with recoil reminds me of working the grill. I've had someone ask me to watch them on the grill. It's dangerous. I burnt my elbow cleaning the hardware. If the stop button didn't work you would have a grilled human arm. Haha

Quite a big truck at that. Max takeoff weight 155,000 pounds/70,000 kg, max cargo weight about 40,000 pounds/19,000 kg. Don't know how much those guns and ammo weigh. Those numbers may not be exact but are in the ballpark.

Bit of info for you. Yes, you are correct ... she's shorter than the "Stretched" version ... only as long as needed for mission. Also know that it is THE most feared platform in the Middle East theaters ... not just because of the armament but mainly due to "TOT" capability ... and she can come on site anytime an F-35 cares to uplink coordinates (and not give away her stealth location); nice both are from Lockheed Martin Aero eh? All this from one that helped build the components all over the World (final assy in Marietta, GA, USA). Also yes ... I have brass shell casings from WWI (The Somme) w/flowers along with shells from the Israeli "6 Day" and "Yom Kippur" wars ... for umbrella stands. Do follow up with the advent of the on-board Laser systems on the C-130J Super Hercs ... it'll literally knock their socks off.

The AC series gunships all started with the AC-47 and AC-119...the idea was artillery support from the sky.

The forward observer is an airman, calling in the air strike. The same if it’s an A10 Lighting(Warthog). My grandmother had a set of shells made into lamps. I think they were from a 5 inch gun from a ship.

For arial fire support the AC-130s and the A-10s are for all intents and purposes the literal Angels of Death for enemy forces. Those aircraft both have a long and very distinguished place in world history. Those aircraft easily rank on the same level of distinction as the B-2s, the B-52s, the Apache helicopters, and the Cobra helicopters. These aircraft are some of the most noteworthy and highly respected aircraft in the US military’s air fleet. You absolute do not want to be on the receiving end of a skilled pilot in any of these aircraft. These aircraft are the reason many of the enemy combatants that our troops have faced usually hide when they hear these aircraft.

I see these things a lot because I live about an hour away from Hurlburt Field, but I'm closer to Eglin Air Force Base and Duke Field here in Florida. So I see and hear the fighter jets and helicopters flying around quite a bit.

We don't really have the shells as you describe some may I had a spent tank shell as a kid but my uncle got it for me. We haven't had a war on US soil as you all had in and around South Africa so they are a little harder to come by plus they are recycled

I'd love to see a reaction to: Pentagon Hall of Heroes: Staff Sgt. David G. Bellavia's Speech US Army youtube channel. Also, 'Sam Eckholm' has a great KZread channel where he gets hands on with various aircraft (he go to fire an AC-130) And there is a newer channel called Unconventional' He got to be a passenger on a B-2 Spirit stealth bomber.

"I am going to go and talk to the kids as to why they are banging and bashing around downstairs." Uhmmm, they are kids? I don't have any children but with 11 younger brothers and sisters growing up have spent a bit of time around such creatures. 😁

The old ones were better. It wasnt the bofors nor the big gun that frightened the enemy and gave the jicknames. It was the gatlin guns. But now that those have been removed its turned the plabe into a big lumbering slow fire target. That chain gun has nowhere near the fire rate of the old gatlins. They've basically neutered the plane.

Sorry Cool. I've been here from your start, but I have to go. I stopped youtube premium because they refused to quit recommending already watched videos. So now, in a video less than 15:00 min long, I got 2 ads in front, stopped twice during, and an ad after. I cannot do that. Can't do patreon for everyone I like. Tell youtube, I tried. Just stop sending stuff to my feed that I've already watched. Be happy to return one day.
