A very unique band indeed ! One of the reasons of their uniqueness is that they often used an alternate guitar tunings, a lot of times very strange and unorhodox ones. If you liked this one, you should try '4th of july', creepy as f... ! :) Anyways, great reaction again !

You should react to Soundgardens My Wave, its simple but a very fun tune. Love the soundgarden reactions! Also if you want to hear another side of Chris Chornell check out Say hello to Heaven by Temple of The Dog or his solo song Seasons.

Chris Cornell RIP… his passing hit me very hard much like Neil Peart of Rush as their deaths are both still recent to me. His vocals are also front and centre in Audioslave and Temple of the Dog which he was lead singer in both of these bands. Thanks for reacting to this one Rory as I had a feeling you might enjoy it as I’m getting a better idea on what appeals to you watching more of your music reactions. Great job once again!

"Grunge" was a media invention. Every band in the scene was different. I remember hearing Cornell say that he considered Soundgarden to be post-punk. Which makes sense, since every record explores different things, rather than sticking to a formula.

The 4 top bands people identify as the first grunge all sounded different. Each had different influences you can hear as they created a new fusion of sounds that later became known as grunge. But, soundgarden and Alice In Chains were very clearly more heavy metal influenced where as nirvana, for example, is way more influenced by punk. So, together they became known as grunge but grunge had multiple influences, that some displayed more than others. Like Pearl Jam has the most classic rock influence. Nirvana punk. SG and AIC, metal. Etc 😉

Glad you did this one. No disrespect to Kurt - but he couldn't come anywhere close to this. Kurt's a compelling singer, but this is totally beyond his vocal capabilities. *No one* else could nail this song (or frankly most other Soundgarden songs.)
