Soundgarden - Limo Wreck [Live At Guitar Center]

Tears of the feeble
Hands of the slaves
Skin of the mothers
Mouths of the babes
Building the towers
Belongs to the sky
When the whole thing comes crashing down
Don't ask me why
Don't ask me why
Under the shelf
The shelf of the sky
Two eyes, two suns
Too heavenly blinds
Swallowing rivers
Belongs to the sea
When the whole thing washes away
Don't run to me
I'll be going down
For the rest of the slide
While the rest of you harvest the gold
And the wreck of you
Is the death of you all
And the wreck of you is the break and the fall
I'm the wreck of you
I'm the death of you all
I'm the wreck of you
I'm the break and the fall
Under the red break of the lights
Heroes in the stretches
Inch to the site
Blowing the pieces
Belong to the wind
When the whole thing blows away
I won't pretend, no
I'll be going down
For the rest of the ride
While the rest of you harvest the souls
And the wreck of you
Is the death of you all
And the wreck of you
Is the break and the fall
I'm the wreck of you
I'm the death of you all
I'm the wreck of you
I'm the break and the fall
Under the red under the lights
Lies the wreck of you for the rest of your life
And the wreck of you
Is the death of you all
And the wreck of you
Is the break and the fall
I'm the wreck of you
I'm the death of you all
I'm the wreck of you
I'm the break and the fall
While the rest of you harvest the gold
While the rest of you harvest the souls

If you listen to the music of ‘Limo Wreck,’ it’s actually a complicated series of rhythms and melodies, and they go into these interesting places, and none of it is particularly based in any sort of rock tradition that I was aware of. Because of that, any idea I had melodically seemed really interesting to me. We really didn’t play ‘Limo Wreck’ much live previously, but in rehearsing it now, I really think it’s one of the more unusual songs I’ve heard in modern rock. It’s an accomplishment, and I can look at some of the slower, heavier, weirder melodic songs on Superunknown as being uniquely ours, without reference or root in anything else-any other period of music, any other band, any other records. - Chris Cornell.

Kim Thayil's chorus pedal in the main riff gives the song a trippy psychedelic vibe love it! Chris Cornell once said that he was talking to a Limo driver about the highway in California about the automobiles. Cornell made the observation that most of the affluent drivers seemed to not have a care in the world. The Limo driver told Cornell how he saw a rich guy who didn't want poor people near his Limo and was outside of the Limo yelling at them to stay away from his limo. They preceded to beat the living shit out of him. That's what this song is about. As well as the gap between the rich and the poor. Class warfare.

Yes it's a real shame he's no more with us. The star in the sky has exploded. Well you got one thing wrong though brother. He wasn't any competent guitar player. The man was a genius at the guitar. Boy oh boy, the melodies he's written with the guitar, those are brilliant, they hold so much tension and are so rock n roll and smart at the same time. Gets your head scratching. So what if he doesnt shred or do any of those flashy things, he speaks more sense than the rest of them. Such odd occurrences occur once in a lifetime in the universe

This is incredible. I cant understand how they pull this one of so effortlessly. Its so many odd pieces of music set to that bad ass bone crushing rhythm. And the noises kim is playing are just out of this world awesome. Definitely one of my most favorite songs and to see 'em pull it off live is mind-boggling . Everyone has an incredible part in this song and they all bring it. Just amazing!

Uma das melhores músicas do álbum. O peso da guitarra do Kim, misturado com essa voz, que apesar de não ser mais a mesma de outrora, ainda era uma das mais poderosas. Saudades Chris Cornell!

Someone tell me why no one talks about Chris Cornell anymore, is it because he died? I think he should be talked about all the time. Why isn’t more done to honor Chris’ incredible life, his songwriting, his voice, his philanthropy, his raw talent, I don’t understand why not.

I sincerely believe that because of the sadness that surrounds his story and also the deepness of lyrics it's just a bummer for a lot of people. At least that's what i found being a Cornell fan and singer that sings his music sometimes, people just kinda feel sad sometimes since they think it's a turnoff thanks to today's lack of sad music on circulation. At least that's my theory.

@@kimerleviccaro1957Black Sabbath is not in the spotlight. It's all hip hippy pop and rap that are about superficial things like sex, drugs, romance, etc. Mainstrean music is only listened to for the sound of it and most of that sound is upbeat and sitcommy.

I jammed hard to these guys and Cornells voice in the early 90's while still a young chap in the US Navy. Never in a million years did I think they would show up in my home state of Alabama. So at 47 I finally got to see Soundgarden and hear Cornells fabulous Rock N Roll voice only for him to pass two weeks later. Bittersweet for sure. RIP Chris Cornell. I hope you are resting happily in your very own Soundgarden.
