@@invictus990 Hey no way, you actually Paul Jennings? Bro, your performance of Raphael absolutely MADE this character in Soul Calibur 2. Its the kind of thing where I have just about every single one of these lines etched into my soul now after listening to them for 20 years. Thanks for just bringing so much to the character, man! I think your performance single handedly makes this version of Raphael my favorite Soul Calibur character. No other iteration of him comes close.

@@invictus990 Cool! I love the snobbish tone you gave to Raphael so much! He sounds so aristocratic! So glad I can tell you!

Raphael's voice and demeanor seemed darker, more brooding, more condescending in SC II. Later games he sounds more upbeat and energetic, almost musketeer-ish. "Do not delude yourself thou wretched fool!"

There's a lot of reasons for a change in a voice actor (it's hardly a steady industry) but overall I think I also liked Paul Jennings for Raphael more. I don't think Charles is 'bad', he just gives off a different feel for the character.

Agreed. He was so unique in SCII then he got progressively lamer until he apparently dies.

Well, they tried to make him 'cooler' by making him more vampiric-looking since he fought Nightmare in SC II and had been wounded by him, thus coming into contact with Soul Edge in the process, which is why he is different in later games. His skin became pale, eyes changed to orangey amber, and he has a more muscular build.

Hearing this now, Raphael's voices and outfits in the later games seem so butchered. If they'd just kept this arrogant style of voice and look... It just made me want me to play as him time and time again.

Raphael's taunting did a hell of a job at making opponents want a rematch. Well done to the makers of SCII

He was the protagonist in the end.

My favorites 0:42 0:51 1:00 2:08 2:18 very favorite quote of his was never included in the voice clips. It was his special win quote to Heihachi which only plays in Heihachi's story if you lose to Raphael. Don't believe me or remember? Then go play as Heihachi and lose. Rapheal : " I'm not here to play........................Are we done? " To me that one quote summed up his entire character perfectly. He had a mission to help Amy by getting the sword and someone like Heihachi who only wished to battle strong opponents in his mind was so beneath him he wasn't even worth considering. Rapheal was at his best in SoulCalibur 2 he seemed to become more silly as the later games progressed as a testament to it consider how in SoulCalibur 3 Kilik and Nightmare both have destined battles against him but his destined battle is Talim😒🙄. What a waste the following games did him no better as he eventually dies seemingly in between SoulCalibur 4 and the dreaded SoulCalibur 5

my sister and i used to play this all the time as kids, and for some reason we just REALLY didnt like raphael in particular so we would always go back and forth playing in training mode and just beating the everloving shit out of him with different characters and like. making up our own little stories and shit on the spot lmao. the "well then, let us dance" line has been stuck in my head ever since then.

Not gonna lie but I miss this version of Raphael, don’t get me wrong about the 6 version of him it’s good but I prefer this version of him. There’s something about his voice that’s “sauve” and gentleman like in 2 that prefer over than him in 6

​@Neogears1312 he's not really a villain, most fighters want to get soul edge for their own gain as it's the entire motivation of the game. Raphael is simply a madman like many others in the series seeking the evil sword
