Once upon a time in the little town of Lensville, old Grandpa Jenkins would sit on his porch in his worn, creaky rocking chair, sipping ice-cold lemonade. With him was his golden dog Bessie, her coat shimmering like the setting sun, her eyes as deep and wise as the ocean. They would sit there, two souls intertwined in the fabric of time, sharing stories and laughter with the townsfolk that passed by. In the hazy afternoons, two kids, Jack and Jill, would often come to visit Grandpa Jenkins, mesmerized by his tales of adventure and wisdom. They would sit on the steps of the porch, eyes wide with wonder, as he spoke of his days gone by. One day, old Grandpa Jenkins began to tell them a story they would never forget. "Once upon a time," he began, his voice like a distant thunder, "there was a curious contraption in our very own town. This was no ordinary device, mind you. It was an unspiked Civil War cannon, resting on the nearby Memorial Ridge like a sentinel of the past." Jack and Jill listened, their imaginations set ablaze by the flickering shadows cast by the setting sun. They could almost see the ancient cannon, blackened and silent, guarding the memories of those who had fought and fallen. "Now, legend has it," Grandpa Jenkins continued, "that two mischievous children, not unlike yourselves, stumbled upon this relic of a bygone era. Wanting to witness the power of this mighty weapon, they filled it with gunpowder and rolls of toilet paper. Their plan was to light the fuse and watch the fiery paper fly through the sky, a blazing comet in the twilight." As Bessie shifted her golden frame, her eyes reflecting the universe's secrets, the children could almost hear the crackling of the fire and smell the smoke rising from the cannon. They held their breath, waiting for the climax of the story. "But fate had other plans," Grandpa Jenkins continued. "As the children ignited the fuse and watched the fire dance within the barrel, a convertible pulled up alongside the cannon. The top was up, and inside was a man whose hair was as wild as a hurricane, his eyes as electric as the heart of a storm." The cannon roared, and with the force of a thousand suns, it blew the top off the convertible. The man leaped through the flaming roof, exclaiming, "Son of a mother trucker!". The children gasped, the image of the man and the burning car forever etched in their minds. They marveled at the way fate had intertwined the lives of the man, the cannon, and the curious children. Grandpa Jenkins leaned in closer, his voice like the rustle of autumn leaves. "Now, you see, the man was a scientist, and he saw a connection between the fiery cannon event and his work on a camera cooling solution. He had designed a personal cooling fan, no louder than a whisper, that could prevent overheating in cameras." As Grandpa Jenkins continued his story, he revealed the deeper connection between the camera cooling fan and the cannon event. "You see, my dear children, the scientist who leaped from the flaming convertible had been researching the flow of air currents to develop his camera cooling solution. He had a vision of a world where technology and nature coexisted harmoniously, each enhancing the other's potential." Upon witnessing the explosive force of the cannon, the scientist was struck with a profound realization. He understood that the same principles that governed the movement of air during an explosion could be harnessed to improve the efficiency of his cooling fan. The energy unleashed by the cannon was raw and chaotic, but it held within it the potential to be transformed into something controlled and purposeful. The scientist spent many sleepless nights in his workshop, fueled by the memories of that fateful encounter with the cannon. He designed and redesigned his cooling fan, each iteration bringing him closer to his vision of perfect harmony between power and subtlety. Finally, after countless hours of labor, he emerged from his workshop with a new and improved version of the personal cooling fan. It was a marvel of engineering, capable of generating a powerful yet nearly silent flow of air. The fan was designed with the same principles that governed the movement of air during the cannon explosion, a testament to the transformative power of inspiration and the interconnectedness of all things. As the story drew to a close, Jack and Jill could not help but feel the profound impact of the scientist's journey. They marveled at the way the seemingly unrelated events of the cannon explosion and the scientist's work had become intertwined, each shaping and enhancing the other in unexpected ways. It was a reminder that life's greatest discoveries often emerged from the most unexpected places, and that the world was filled with hidden connections just waiting to be uncovered. Grandpa Jenkins looked at the children, his eyes filled with the wisdom of a thousand lifetimes. "And so, my dear ones, always remember that the universe is vast and mysterious, and that the threads of our lives are woven together in ways we may never fully understand. Let the story of the cannon and the cooling fan be a reminder that life is a tapestry of interwoven moments, each contributing to the richness and beauty of our existence." As the last rays of sunlight disappeared behind the horizon, Jack and Jill stood up, their hearts filled with a newfound appreciation for the intricacies of life. The magic of Grandpa Jenkins' story had woven its way into the fabric of their souls, leaving them forever changed. With the stars beginning to sparkle in the night sky, old Grandpa Jenkins and Bessie sat on the porch, their spirits entwined with the mysteries of the universe. They knew that the tale they had shared would echo through the generations, serving as a reminder of the boundless potential that lay hidden within the world's most unexpected connections. And as the world slipped into the embrace of the night, the little town of Lensville became a beacon of hope and wonder, a testament to the power of stories and the eternal dance of the cosmos.

Simple and effective! Love it. Just rigged our A74 with a very quiet low profile computer fan. Used a specialized adhesive black steel thin plate stuck at the back where the screen is housed. Fan snaps on magnetically and screen closes without a hitch. I noticed the metal plate conducts a lot more heat from the camera so the USB fan does a good job of drawing the heat out. Super easy to rig on a tripod or on the fly. It’s saved us from a lot of overheating headaches with longer studio shoots in 4K 30. Happy travels!

I can’t be alone on this can I? I waited on this release like no other, scouring to find any tidbit of info I could find while eagerly anticipating the debut on its release date. My hope and dreams crashed intro the rocks of reality upon watching the first review hands on review and learning of the major flaw in this camera design. IT OVERHEATS... Still I waited till I could see the first real world production model review and again my expectations were crushed... THE PRODUCTION VERSION OVERHEATS.... Mark has found an improvised workaround but it comes at a price of inconvenience and additional noise which will have to be overcome along with move equipment more batteries or more converters and mounting concern. BIG KUDOS to MARK for finding an affordable solution to those who have already bought this. SHAME ON SONY for producing such a steamer of a release. SERIOUSLY... THIS CAMERA COSTS $2200 TO $2500 USD, WHICH TRANSLATES TO WHAT... ABOUT A ZILLION DOLLARS CANADIAN? (I sincerely feel for our brothers and sisters to our north.) How could Sony even consider this to be reasonable for the market they are saying it was intended for? By saying “look at all the cool new software features.” NEWSFLASH... ALL THOSE "COOL NEW SOFTWARE FEATURES" DON'T WORK WHEN THE CAMERA HAS SHUT DOWN DUE TO OVERHEATING. At this price it should work flawlessly without overeating issues. It would be really sucky to have it shut off right in the middle of producing content and then having to wait for the internal temps to reach operational levels again before resuming... Momentum lost. And if you live in a cold climate this may not be an issue during the cold seasons. If you live in the lower 48 of the US this is substantially problematic. All the while I see reviewer after reviewer singing the praises of all the “cool new software features” and saying how they will get one to work in conjunction with the OTHER HIGH END CAMERAS they ALREADY HAVE in at their disposal. I get it in one way. I realize that if they are harsh about the ZV-E1 they risk being shunned by Sony for future releases… It is a sucky situation to be in. I currently do not have the luxury of owning a FX-3, FX-30, A7 V, A7 IV, A7S III and all the G-Master Glass with the ultra low Toneh(s) that makes them great. It is a stretch for me to get one camera and an “ok” lens. Maybe. Disposable income is more and more difficult to come by in our current economic period of inflation. I need to make careful decisions with the dollars I have. Looks like the Panasonic S5 IIx may be the way to go. Wish it was a little higher on the slow-motion frame rate but it does not overheat and has a host of other really desirable useful features. It is also my understanding that Panasonic updates the firmware and listens to it’s customer base more than the camera manufacturers. I REALLY wanted to like the ZV-E1. All this being said I can’t help but to think that I witnessing a real life version of “THE EMPEROR’S NEW CLOTHES.”

This camera is what it is. A lightweight, very portable, inconspicuous cam with a sensor of the Sony FX3, A7SIII and the autofocus system of the A7RV. And that means, it overheats way faster than other cams with less power. But this is something you know before you are going to buy it. It’s not meant to be a cam for long recordings - its for short clips in the highest possible quality. And that’s what the ZV-E1 is doing perfectly. If someone has to record long takes - well there is still a FX3 and a A7SIII. In the end it’s simply physics. But good to see, that if you want, you can extend the recording time :) Looking forward to see more tipps&tricks videos of the ZV-E1 :-)

Hi Mark! Much like yourself, I own a trusted ZVE-10 that I like very much for its portability and ease of use. So much so that, for the type of use I make of it, some of the more "amateurish" features it packs have become essential. But they have limitations! For instance, the skin smoothing effect only works at 1080p, and is capped at 30fps, if I recall correctly. The usb-c live mode unfortunately only works at 720p... but it also simultaneously charges the battery (it's a small battery and also depends on the cable you're using). The auto-aperture-blur button also has its quirks, depending on the lens and shooting mode. So given that the ZV-E1 also comes with many, if not all of these features... are they any better in it, in any way at all.. than they are on the ZVE-10?

Hey Mark, love the content and you have a new sub here! I've been battling with either the FX30 or the ZVE1, both seem to have great benefits and some cons. I was settled on the FX30 and then got spooked last night with a vid saying its WAY too complicated for a beginner, with all the hidden costs and the fact you need to colour grade all the footage etc. So then I looked at the ZVE1 again, I think it would suit all my needs, however, one of the things I want to start is videoing a PODCAST from home studio. Mainly 30-60 mins, doesnt have to be 4K though. You're last comment in the vid was "if you're thinking of long form content, look at something else". What would you say is long form? Over an hour? or less? Thanks in advance and again, great content! Peter, Vancouver

The fx30 is not too complicated - it’s great. You can colourgrade if you want or use the standard. The zv-e1 has the exact same profiles and ability to colour grade. But the problem with the ZV-E1 is that it will overheat after 25-30 mins if it’s a stuffy environment (no breeze). But I use a fan strapped to the tripod for that. I would do the FX30 if I were you just because you’ll never have to worry about the overheating.

Not keen on sticking velco strips on the camera. Tilta's implentation for the canon r5 requires mounting via the tripod mount. Fujifilm's cooling fan implementation for the xh2s are the best with a perfect fit. I only film short clips and have not encountered any overheating to date. In my testing both leaving the door open and using external dummy battery helps very little i think because in the old a6xxx days it was mostly the heat sensor near the flashcard that triggered and that was next to the battery. They moved the flashcard to the other side so thats not a issue anymore. Now in my tests i do use a dummy battery and leave the door open since well for 4h webcam or record sessions it doesn't make practical sense to use a internal battery.

@@Eatmeraw i never heard the camera was sold outs. lol. most of those who buy this are people who already have sony cameras and lenses. but for a beginner this is the worst choice. from BHphoto the body is 399 grams, the canon r8 is 461 gram only a difference of 62 grams and the canon actually has a viewfinder. the sensor is overrated. 12 megapixel? yes its good in low light if youre at 12800 iso, but who is at 12800 iso? most people arent. this sensor would lose to most of its competition at reasonable iso, like 3200 to 10,000 iso. with 12megapixel you lose apsc mode, all digital crops start to look like 1080p as youre not getting oversampled. the dynamic stabilization crops in huge, youre getting lower quality video and less wide angle when you can get a panasonic s5ii with similar stabilization and keep your wide angle. the dynamic stabilization even stutters when panning. the only thing sony fans say about this camera is a7s3 sensor, as if that means we should droll. sure you get 4k 120p which doesnt exist right now. would it exist later? maybe, would you get 2 minute of video before it overheats? probably not.

Using a dummy battery (powering it from the mains means the heat that would come from the battery being used is now generated outside the camera.) this might even run cooler than usb external power - which might require extra voltage conversion Record externally on a Blackmagic ultra studio (or atmos ninja) (can be simulated by connecting a screen to the hdmi output). For long sessions of video shooting, you can use coolers for phones with a magnetic mount. These devices use electronic Peltier cooling. They come in different sizes. The cost of such devices is low. Just as an example kzread.info/dash/bejne/f4iclpaTZrGfqrw.html

In my opinion, This camera is honestly extremely overpriced, and I honestly believe they made this to try to avoid the existence of the A7s III. I recently just purchased a ZV-E10 and I love it. But I feel like this camera it’s just not worth it, especially for the price it is. It’s better off just getting a used A7 IV, or an FX30.

Who wants to purchase a camera for 2200 plus tax and have to rig it to actually function properly. KZread is full of creators trying to kiss corporate @ss for sponsorship and other perks. It's sad to watch all the KZreadrs say buy this and buy that, when they wouldn't buy one themselves. Sony flew over twenty KZreadrs out to promote this camera. And they all said this is a must have camera, don't mind the overheating, it's made for vloggers. Lol. This camera will never see 4k 120. Sony is horrible with Firmware updates. Im not a sony hater by the way. I currently own the FX30, A7IV, and the A7C. And I've owned the A6600, A6500, and A6300. When the A6300 and A6500 had overheating issues, people would say DON'T buy it. But now since Sony is the DOMINANT player with mirrorless, these Creators are terrified to say anything bad. Cowards or PUPPETS. Guys beware of these Content Creators, they're here to make a buck. Not to provide honest and unbiased reviews. Thanks for the info Mr.Bennet. Please dont become a puppet like all the large KZreadrs

imagine someone upgrading from the a6000 series using a fan at the back of their camera and now they have to keep using the fan. lol. i cant in good concience recommend this camera to anyone. if a relative came for camera recommendation. this would be the last on the list. aside the overheating, 12 megapixel, no viewfinder, low res not bright screen. not a good combo camera for the price. if it was $1300, then its more justifiable.

If your internal temp is set to high - it should not overheat. I've used mine for 2 full years with no overheating at all, recording for hours and hours. If your overheats instantly - it is a faulty unit.
