XZ2 was destroyed the Sony’s design signature.

XZ2 compact is better because of it's new. But XZ1 Compact design is nicer.

In person I like the XZ2 compact design more because it's more comfortable and the curved back makes it feel smaller than the XZ1 compact, but that's just my personal preference. I know a lot of people really liked Sony's unique design

Thank you for the video. It's a hard choice. The xz2 is obviously better with the camera and with games but the lack of headphone jack, higher price, almost no difference in screen display quality/regular app usage, and poor design means that the xz1 wins for me.

I love my XZ1, i loove that fingerprint scanner on side, and of course the hearing aid jack is necessary

The XZ2 Compact also works well as a widget spinner while on a table!

Fast forward to 2021 the xz1c is better than the xz2c. Have both, speed have almost no diff, same with back camera, screen are identical in quality just diff in size, xz1c battery last looooonger, has a 3.5mm jack, wide front cam and better form factor imo. Ps xz2 also heats a lot faster than xz1c

I got the XZ1 Compact for 350 € (France).. meanwhile the XZ2 is at 550 €... so nope sorry but those really small enhancements don't worth the 200€ up + bigger phone and NO jack ! ^^

JayRay00 Okay. Sony is marketing it's small screen premium devices as compact, which XZ1 compact is. Also, technically speaking, compaction is a volumetric phenomenon. And indeed, XZ1C has less volume than XZ2C.

Great comparative review thanks...sticking with my XZ1 for sure.

Also I'm a big fan of the iconic Square pointy tip sides of the Sony phones so I don't like the rounded Samsung look at edges of the other one

the audio quality of xz1 is impressive!

XZ1C is better overall. Both got a few weaknesses but XZ1C is more unique and it feels much better for me.

I prefer the old design with 16:9 screen and a headphone jack. The best design imo is the one from the z3+ in gold especially.

Z3+ is a really beautiful looking phone. very thin too. they took a step back with the designs for Z5/XZ/XZ1/XZ2. main issue with Z3+ though is it lacked a headphone jack

Can u do battery drain test between the two?

Xz1 compact all day. The headphone delete sours the more expensive incremental improvement. Xz2 had a higher antutu, but 1080p will be harder to drive vs 720p. Hopefully i can soon snag an xz1 compact as cheap as an lg g5 now that the xz2 compact is out!

My XZ1 Compact scores over 204000 on AnTuTu.

The XZ2 is better, but I don't know if it's 250€ more better.

More like "the only modern "compact" smartphones. Why do people "just buy a phablet 'cause the cool guy has one"? People are mostly just sheep and "technologicly poor people" buy big ass shit from companies like Motorola, Wileyfox and Wiko just because they get this 6" phone that looks cool although it has android 5 or 6, SD420 or similar (chinese) crapass SOC, 1.5-2GB RAM and 8-16GB storage for ~$150 Samsung, huawei and the like pushing out 6" $800(+) phones aren't helping either.

2 Questions for the xz1C here: 1. Can pointy edges be softened using a case? Dont wanna wreck my pockets :-) 2. Read about camera issues due to "bending" the pic edges etc. or fish eye effect? Since i use to scan documents with my phone. Is it still possible with good quality though?

i bought the xz1 compact in october 2017 and im still with it after almost 6 years. never had any problem, only downside is the internal 32 gb capacity. but now its getting old and the battery is getting swollen. i will change it miself.

I have the sony xz1 compact 3 weeks old £300 heavy discount . I find the phone good for the money . The 2 is a lot more money , i am low / light user so the upgrade is not useful to me . The main reason for me to get sony xz1 compact . size, mid-high level spec , battery care , stamina / ultra stamina mode ,no glass on the back (glass back phones are fashion useless nonsense ) give me metal or composite or even plain plastic any day . This is my thoughts .

That's a pity there is no FM transmitter in both models, but jack 3,5 can help to make decision.

As far as the camera is concerned, are we supposed to just take your word for it ? All I see is you taking pictures and somehow deciding that the two cameras are on a par. Take your time, that's what we're here for.

XZ1 compact is more compact. Sony should have improved on compactness imo. Bring me the XPERIA Ray 2.0 baby!

Zx1 here. Run a iRig guitar connector with the dual headphone/microphone jack. Has more stability sitting on a flat surface that the rounded casing. It's easier to activate the fingerscanner in a stand or attached to a dashmount etc. The audio can be tuned to have a brighter tone setting so, same grade of micro speakers. The smaller platform lets it fit into pockets easier. Smaller screen eats less batter in 2 ways, 1 being smaller area to luminate, and the lower resolution uses less power, therefore probably lasts the same per charge as the other phone that has a slightly faster processor. I'd like to see sony put more effort into creating a lot of features to adjust for the 3d scanning feature, or even to create an addon case that adds further 3d scanning definition, doubling its resolution for scans. I got it to do basic scans plus being a portable everything else device. Have done a few 3d prints from the scanning feature. Sony should boost the mobile editing abilities too for new scans with a few extra features such as push/pull within a zoom, brush features, font importing features, image importing features that can allow for selections of how to trace images for 3d raised surfaces for printing. If enough people ask sony for that, they might do it.

I want to upgrade my Z5c but unfortunately, no matter how lightning fast and better ZX2/3 might be.. the phone shape is just not something I want to hold and admire. The block shape is beautiful and sharp looking.. Unfortunately Sony has to cope with the trend to sell well. Its for the better, I guess, to keep them alive at some point. I would go for XZ1 when the price drops/when I have the budget for it

I am buying myself the XZ1 compact. Design way better, the 2 looks so cheap to me. Hedaphone Jack still there. I need that. Price cheaper. Fingerprint sensor in the powerbutton, which is Genius for me :D

Is it possible to get the finger print XZ1C in US? And if so, will it work with AT&T?

just bought the XZ1 during prime day for 250e. At this price it wins everything.

2020 in May I have the X1 but the 32gb is full to 98% I just can't keep going deleting everything, but the phone is a perfect size and more than fast enough, so now I have to go the toe X2 for the 64gb. and that is the only reason I am changing. I would maybe go for a different make of phone, but the compacts and the power of the Sony phones mean I will stick with them, if they did an update on the X2 being a compact with the power, I would buy it.

How about the battery performace between the two?

I think official US pricing will be $799 for XZ2 and $650 for XZ2C. There's some international versions available now, but yeah if you want the US warranty then you're better off waiting. Should be soon I think,

I want to move from the one plus 5t to the xz2 compact because I like the size of the phone. The only thing holding me back is that I have never owned an xperia and I also have read that the ips lcd screen on sony is not as bright and colourful as amoled. Second this is the battery I want to see battery tests but there are no reviews on this thing hardly. Does it charge fast and does it last long?

I have a Oneplus 5t and the XZ2C. The XZ2C is definitely brighter, and easier to use in direct sunlight. The audio is also a plus. The battery charges fast 20 to 80 in 30 mins (I don't let it fully drain) and lasts much longer than what the capacity should.

I playing games on my pc and 27 " monitor, compact phones are great, you can put them in to your pocket and looks nice and stylish, and when you calling from them you don't look like a moroon with your 8 " tablet stick in to your head. 4,6" maximum 5 " thats the sweet spot for smartphones in my opinion :)

Lol there's no pb bro we're in the same boat. For the phone, i used to like most of the compact serie from sony with the combinaison of small, light and powerfull but now if it's for the same weight in my pocket i prefer to have a "normal" phone with a big screen :)

Open apps one second before is not the most important. But is good to see the little little difference between the two. In the future, make too videos about battery life with use of day. Sony use always little battery and it is annoying. I don't understand the reason. Really.
