    For the phone THAT thick, I think the absence of 3.5mm headphone jack is a downside

    i think the "chunky design" is one of the most charming features of this phone. I really dont like the flat design of other phones. I used to have an iphone 3gs back in the day and just loved the way it felt in the hand because of the back curve.

    Good review, thank you. Ordered one from China (I use dual sim) for €430. I defy anyone to give a justifiable alternative for that kit and that price. This is my first Sony phone for 7 years, it'll be good to come back home.

    High quality headphones can't even be driven by a the amplifier in smartphones, you well need a seperate headphone amplifier to drive those. People who claim otherwise have never listened to a real high quality headphone. The term 'audiophile' is exclusively reserved for idiots who pay way to much money for audio equipment that has no real benefits over reasonably priced high quality audio equipment.

    I totally agree with you. I mean, there is a USB-C adapter with a jack you can use and attach your DAC to it if you so desire the quality while you commute. Sure it's an additional accessory to carry but if you are carrying a DAC there is not much of a difference. I hate cables while commuting so I always get wireless headphones any way. The only reason I would be annoyed at the jack removal is if I had to solely depend on my phone for tunes, let's say that at work I am forbidden to use the workstation ports. Then again, the dongle is not a problem since at the desk there is no issue to be concerned about a few inches more of cable.

    Nice review, but you need a more decent camera, and increase the phone brightness. This seems like a standard SD video broadcasted in HD by stretching. Maybe your camera is really HD, but your compression method is far too extreme. And the auto focus, well.. have you actually watched the video??

  • @Jerome-iwnl
    @Jerome-iwnl6 жыл бұрын

    WARNING: I'm hearing reports of super slow SD card read and write speeds. It seems to be capped at 18mbps for both read and write. To put that into perspective, most sd cards nowadays run at 80mbps+ and most phones can support those speeds. Also, the phone's 4k 30fps recording is at 55mbps, so you wont be able to record to your sd card directly. ABSOLUTELY DEAL BREAKING if true.

    Dante Bradley good point, but they increased the resolution & screen size (due to 18:9), changed side fp reader (though now it works in the USA), and kept with last year's decision good decision to use the latest cpu of the time. They may have lost his money, but I bet they earned several more when they get into Best Buy stores. At the store, it's biggest competitor will likely be the regular Pixel 2, and since both lack the 3.5 mm connector that won't be the difference maker. It will probably be there Google-direct pull, carrier deals, other costs that really impact the sales (at least for the general public). Personally, I wish this was cheaper than $650 in the USA. It's all very nice that specifically the Compact will finally support Verizon, so we'll see if that has any impact. I'm overall a fan of the changes, and would have liked the 3.5 mm connector, but can deal without it

    They fucked the design up bad.. I saw it online, didn't like it but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt so sure enough I purchase one. Only to be totally disappointed. The finger print sensor? Leave it on the side, why in the center of the back? The shape.. the screen.. the aspect ratio.. all wrong.. Returning the XZ2 Compact, sticking with my XZ1 Compact.

    Well anyone reading this comment , please read it full. Sony is a beautiful company , they make some of the best product let it be tv , headphones or mobiles , but they always do stupid things which pushes the customer away. Like for headphones they had this stupid rules against the p-type headphone jack so no one bought it , but recently they bought that and allowed consumers it to use with there Sony headphones., there dac range is awesome to, and same goes with phone to they make awesome phones , the hardware is awesome but keeping that steep price , in spite of not marketing is stupid , keeping the phone fat and removing the headphone jack is another ,in short Sony is a great company they make some of the great products , let it be anything I like them , but Sony makes stupid major mistakes which pushes away even the hardcore Sony fans.What they need is changes at the very high level of personnel , and need to adapt a bit to the market and launch there product. Sorry for my stupid rant. But I do feel Sony is a great company , but by making the small mistakes for there products throughout the years , they are losing valuable customers. P.s as usual nice video :)

    I bought this phone but will be returning it. Many things are great (speed, battery, screen quality, sound) but too many issues with the hardware design. Don't know how they thought it would be acceptable to make a phone this thick and moreover heavy. Also still niggling ergonomic issues like putting power button in the middle.
